I am really surprised at this since my first car in 1984 was a Honda Civic which was also old, but had a perfect paint job. Being from Miami, I thought that this Honda (which I bought new) would be the same. But now, after many years, the paint is totally destroyed. Most of the car is white and when looking online for a solution, found that the clear coat of the Honda is crap and Honda will not take any responsibility.
I cannot afford to repaint the car now, so I will watch it get uglier and uglier with nothing else to do.

We had not had the car very long and noticed that the clear coat started chipping off. Now the majority of the car is missing the clear coat. It is so annoying.

I have a purple 1999 Honda Civic Hatchback with less than 40,00 miles on it. The paint is blistering and peeling in several places. It started next to the windows shortly after I bought the car and has continued to blister and flake in other places as well. Some of the "chips" are 2-3" in size and there are new blisters appearing constantly. I don't know if Honda simply screwed up with this particular model/color or if they have a reputation for lousy paint jobs. It really pisses me off because the condition of the paint will have a negative effect if I try to sell or trade the car. I have also had problems with the check engine light coming on for no apparent reason and had to have the map sensor replaced once already. Needless to say none of these problems were covered under the miniscule warranty provided by Honda. What a rip off.
