The clear coat and paint began peeling a few years ago on the top, hood and trunk. I am the original owner, and the car hasn't had any other problems. It wasn't even parked in the sun the majority of its life. I am very disappointed that Honda used such cheap paint. You don't see this problem on other make and models of this same age.

My car looks ugly. I trusted brand HONDA and for them to not SATISFY their customers, especially when it is a wide spread problem, severely harms their REPUTATION. I have already decided to sell my old CIVIC and new Odyssey; I am planning to move on to other reliable brands, if any!

I called the dealer about the paint coming off. I was still under warranty at the time of the problem. The dealer told me it wasn't covered under my warranty....what a crock. I'm angry about this because it's not from abuse to my car. I take very good care of my car and could understand if this was occurring because of neglect on my part. It is happening to all Hondas made around the same time.I know from personal experience I've seen many other cars around town with the same problem....most WAY worse than mine. Mine is just a little on the door but others...it's taking over their cars!!!! When I asked the dealer about it I mentioned that many other people were obviously having issues with their clear coat as well. He said that it was a defect in the clear coat but Honda wouldn't pay for it...They are admitting the problem and just ignoring it. That's nice Honda. If you make a product and it is defective ...just like my transmission that you DID pay for only because I was still under warranty, just like my SRS light that WON'T go off and you WON'T pay for and now this....and this is the same car people!!! I have become VERY DISAPPOINTED with Hondas. I bragged so much about my '91 Accord and loved it so much that when I wanted a new car of course I went with another Honda because I was so happy with my previous car but now I'm just REALLY disappointed HONDA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So disappointed with exterior condition of my civic. I purchased my 2000 Honda Civic knowing the overal quality of model but not even nearing my 100,000 mile mark watched my car peel away like a bad manicure. Reported it directly to Honda dealer and was advised that it was no longer under warranted and expected due to cars 9 year age.
Family and friends prefer not to drive in my car due to its appearance. I too feel embarrassed when parking my car near other fully painted automobiles no matter what their make or model.
I was so proud and boasted about my Honda Civic purchase over the years, eager to educate non Honda buyers of the brand.
Today I drive an eye sore from the peeling pain, flaking coating, camouflaged looking Honda Civic that leaves me sick to know that it hasn't even reached the mid point of its expected life expectancy mileage wise but looks like it needs to be driven to the junk yard for visual depreciation.
My children call it the Honda Civic Frankenstein! To me it's a sore looking automobile that only a mother could love!!
