Civic LX 1.7L

I believe Honda Civic was build very cheap and overprice. I will never, never buy another Honda again. There should be a recall on all Honda Civics where a headliner is falling. This is a safety issue,

Civic DX 1.7L

  • 124,274 miles

The headliner in the rear of the car is hanging down significantly - have tried various glues including hot glue, and nothing seems to hold. The fabric itself is beginning to deteriorate. The headliner towards the front of the car is beginning to bubble as well. It is extremely embarassing, and an eye sore.

The car is in excellent shape but the headliner makes it look like crap. My mechanics tried to glue it couple of times but it keeps falling down in the back. My Honda dealer offered to replace it for about $800. Are they for real? If I leave it like it is, I can be assured that my car won’t be a target for stealing or break-ins.

I see I wasn't the only one with a headliner problem. Looked like I was riding around in a ghetto cruiser instead of the reliable quality vehicle I THOUGHT I had purchased. The engine threw a rod this week and I sold this junker and walked away.

My honda's headliner is detaching in the rear and the fabric has detached from the door panels on both sides. My car runs like new but really looks like crap on the inside. I bought Honda b/c I thought it was a great choice, but now I'm having doubts that I will buy again. I don't think I'd even be able to get full value for this car if I were to try to sell it, all b/c of that fabric falling apart.

After having a torque converter malfunction at 84000 miles, after the warranty ran out at 80000 miles, I will try to glue to damn headliner back and sell this piece of crap car. Why doesn't Honda admit mechanical problems with the 2001 Civics? It was my dream car, not it's the car from hell. Just paid over $650 again to fix the battery, tie rod, tune up, tire rotation and now I also need to fix the valve cover gasket for another $350. Thanks so much Honda! At least Toyota is admitting & fixing their gas pedal problems. I don't see anything about this. I WILL NEVER BUY A HONDA AGAIN. YOUR CARS ARE CRAP AND YOU SCREW YOUR CUSTOMERS. Also when I tried to buy out my lease, American Honda Finance charged me for an extra month while my credit union tried to send them a buyout check to a PO Box that was on their website. I had to call them to get a street address so the Credit Union could actually get it there. That happened THREE TIMES AND AMERICAN HONDA FINANCE CLAIMED THEY NEVER RECEIVED THE CHECK.

DO NOT BUY HONDA!

I did not expect to have an issue with the headliner given the age of this car. I have owned Hondas before and they can be very good cars.

The headliner is falling apart right above the NEW sun visors I had to buy off e-bay because they fell apart too!!! I'm putting too much money into this car. The sun visors were flopping, had holes in them, and when I flipped them down the mirrors slid out because the glue didn't hold them in. I tried to glue the headliner using Krazy Glue, but it only held for a day or so until it fell down again!

Civic EX 3.2L V6

I have searched and search trying to locate someone who can fix this problem. I tried looking for the part on Honda's website with no luck. Each time I drive with the windows down, the headliner comes down a little more. I have tried the adhesive which held for approximately 3 days, then it started coming down even more. It is so unsightly to have this material hanging in the back where my grand-daughter has to sit. Please help me located someone in the Richmond, VA area who can fix this thing outside of the dealership which will charge me an arm and a leg or two.

The headliner has completely separated from the ceiling in the rear of the car and it is falling down in the front of the car as well. The fabric over the visors is also coming off. The material underneath the fabric is this thin yellow stuff and it manages to get on everything in the car.

Really curious if there was any recalls on the glue???? It's really ghetto to have your interior look horrible, particularly when the car runs well.

Civic 1.7L

  • Manual transmission
  • 57,000 miles

I bought the car drove it 2 months and during a hot day with the windows down the headliner blew loose. I replaced the headliner and will have to replace sun visors because they are falling apart. I owned a Japanese Honda 1988 Honda Civic Dx Hatchback-loved that car. I now own an American made Honda Civic Lx 4dr Sedan and it doesn't even compare to the other car. You can tell a huge difference in the tightness of the car. I wish I still could drive my old one. I'm now having dash lights that go on and off at a tap of the cover. Not a fan of American made Honda's. Sorry!

After logging in to this site to register my complaint about my transmission failure I starting exploring more issues with my vehicle... Low and behold, I am not the only one whose headliner has sagged and fallen along the back window. Additionally, the sun visors have little holes (which are quickly becoming bigger holes!) and the material on them all but disintegrates when I touch them. Alright, I'm off to another section to complain, just look for me! I'm the one who had sung Honda's praises to anybody who will listen but will probably never buy another... What an expensive disappointment!
