Civic 4-1.8L

  • Manual transmission
  • 100,000 miles

We have owned 3 Hondas. Honda knew of the issue with the paint peeling. Honda did not inform their customers, they did not take responsibility for their problems and have left us with a car that has lost value and looks awful. We want Honda to repaint the car with paint that will last and not peel. At this point we will never buy another Honda as this is a company that has shown they do not stand behind what they build and sell.

Civic LX 2.7L

  • Manual transmission
  • 165,000 miles

The paint job is horrible. The hood, roof and trunk is all bubbled up. The sides all the way around have lost clear coat over halfway down. Again, not something I, as a single mother of 3, can afford. This is ridiculous. Honda needs to get these repetitive problems fixed.

My paint is rapidly going away! At 94,000 it was minor. Now at 114,000 it's becoming a lot worse.

Civic EX 3.2L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 75,000 miles

This is obviously not an isolated incident! I've been reading many blogs regarding the same issue. It is not normal wear and tear, but of course after 10 years my car is no longer under warranty. I don't know if I should even address it with the dealer?

The clear coat is flaking on the roof of the car behind the sun roof. I can almost see why it's happening. The hot weather these last few summers have been intense here in North Carolina. I'm getting it fixed today. I noticed that some Honda owners say that it seems to happen to most Honda cars a lot. So, I decided to perform a search on other makes and models. I find that it happens to most makes and models within just a few years and not just Honda.

I care about how my car looks on the outside. But, what I won't complain about is the durability of my Honda. I have yet to have a major engine problem, and I have 154,000 miles and it still rides as smooth as butter. I've only had to replace parts, like a motor mount and a cracked windshield. But, other than that, she runs well, and I make sure she stays maintained and greased up.

If I had to choose between paint chipping and a reliable car, reliable gets it every time. So, I guess I'm not complaining as much as I'm commenting.

I can see the complaints on paint flaking after owning a brand new Honda for less than 7 years. Cars get old. We can't keep them perfect forever....

Paint started peeling off on the hood of my CIVIC and this made my real good car look ugly. Honda paint job really sucks.

The hood, bumper, driver and passenger door are being repainted. This car is 3 weeks old and has spent its 4th at the dealer which is where it is now.
