After spending 2200 bucks on a rebuilt transmission in Oct my car had no power to climb a hill. I heard a pinging noise and my check engine light came on. i drove to the repair place and the car was shaking terribly. It's putting several codes. The 4th cylinder has no compression and it's not a coil pack or the injectors. I'm told it may be a bent piston and it will be pricey

Car fails emissions in the state of Arizona. The failure code is P0171. I have replaced both O2 sensors, added fuel additive. I'm able to reset the computer at my shop, then I take the car on a drive to make sure the changes have registured on the computer. I have also replaced the gas cap. The Civic engine check light continues to come on with the same failure code. Need some help. The car runs fine, but will not pass emissions.

I was just about ready to take my car into the dealer to get all belts serviced. Well, nothing got me into the shop sooner than seeing the check engine light come on! The car started shaking at random intervals when idling or at stop lights. I thought great, well...maybe it's related to the belts! Not so. After pulling a code, Honda tech found the engine was mis-firing and coil pack #2 needed replacing. My baby is running again, but still not as smooth as before.

Like so many others, my 2001 Civic engine light has been going on and off periodically. Finally took it in and was told I need to replace the torque converter for $1600. I've been agonizing over that, and was just about ready to do - thinking that it's a reliable Honda and this is probably just a glitch. After reading all of this and doing more research, I'm thinking I should probably just fix it, but start looking for a new car much sooner than I ever expected to. I'm amazed that Honda hasn't addressed this. I was going to get another Honda, but probably not now.
