Struts appeared to have problems for a long time, but I was putting off replacement until they started making noises. They were lubed but it only helped get rid of some of the noise. The tires were beginning to get damaged because there was more bounce in the car than there should have been. Struts needed replacing. Replaced all 4 with a full strut assembly.
