Civic HX 110000

  • CVT transmission
  • 110,000 miles

My Civic was running fine until I noticed that it had a small delay when trying to go from park to gas. I took it in and Honda said there is a transmission problem but since they don't go into it they quoted me a new one for $6000. Went to another mechanic and confirmed was a problem and they quoted me $4200 for a new factory transmission. So, made no sense to fix it since my car is only worth about $2-3000 anyways, so buying a new car.

I wish Honda would stand by their products by at least acknowledging and doing a recall on these.

I bought this Honda a year ago and it started slipping and jerking. Next thing I notice a whining from the transmission took it to the shop and now it wont even pull. I guess I'm going to have to put a new or rebuilt transmission in it. Don't know if I should sale it or fix it,

Civic EX

  • Manual transmission
  • 108,623 miles

I bought this car 2 years ago and have had nothing but problems. Just recently at 107k miles I had to get new struts, new engine mounts, new catalytic converter (2x in 1 year), new timing belt, new oxygen sensors and something was wrong with the electrical parts. Took it back because I heard a noise while in 1st and 2nd gear.

Turns out its chipped gear teeth and going to cost thousands of dollars to fix. My mechanic said its basically rebuilding the transmission. Today I heard another sound. I have been calling the used car dealership for weeks trying to find out whats covered in my extended warranty. Finally they gave me the info.

I called the warranty company and they said it is a powertrain warranty and covers transmission and engine problems. GREAT...so this should be free!! However, it expires on 2/6/12 or when I reach 108,696 miles. I looked at my speedometer and I am at 108,610. I dropped off my car at my mechanic and it is currently waiting to be fixed at 108,623 miles. I can't believe my luck. Just 73 more miles and the extended warranty would be useless.

I will find out soon if it will be covered in full. Even if I have to pay for part of it I'm just going to get it fixed. Then sell this car!!! It has been nothing but problems and belongs in a junk yard. I got this car because I thought it would be reliable. Honda,108k miles and now this...REALLY???!!!

Update from Jan 12, 2012: Today my mechanic told me they are going to put in a new transmission and my extended warranty will cover it. Incredible news. They had to tow it to their other shop for building the new transmission because if they would have drove it then my warranty would have expired. This is the best luck I've ever had with this car because for once a repair FREE!! I have read other reviews that they have had to replace the transmission twice so I will be making a smart move and trading this piece of junk in as soon as it's returned back to me. The place I bought it from doesn't even want to buy it back. Good luck to the idiot that buys this car!!! It will be the worst decision of their life.

took car to flysky auto due to noise and THEY MISDIAGNOSED it. They stated it was the belts and water pump. Had to take it back 3 times due to warranty on work done and they still did not get it right . When they did get it right was when they drove the

car to the point where it would not go any further .

Civic LX 4 cyl

  • Automatic transmission
  • 109,000 miles

Heard whining noise when starting car up. After warming up, noise goes away. Noise gets louder, so I take it into Honda dealership. This is the dealership where I purchased vehicle brand new, and had all scheduled maintenance done. Dearl calls, problem is with transmission . . .fix , , , rebuilt transmission . . .$3,900!!!! I was stunned! Last thing on earth I expected to hear. No money to fix this.

Found this website, and was shocked to see problwm is a defective transmission, and Honda will not do a recall. I did call Honda Customer Customer, got a case number and waiting to hear about " goodwill repair". No faith in any help/money from them. I was a devoted Honda buyer, now I will NEVER, EVER buy another Honda! And will tell anyone and everyone I know not to buy Honda! Hope class sction lawsuit is initiated. SHAME ON HONDA.

Civic EX

  • Automatic transmission
  • 52,200 miles

I am afraid of driving this car around. After I went to a repair shop to check the noise problem, they told me the loud noise is from the transmission and asked me to bring the car to the dealer. So I made an appointment with the dealer tomorrow. To my curiosity, I went online to see if I can find any help. Surely there is lots of info online. Honda Civic transmission is a big problem!!

I wish I knew this website earlier because I had several engine issues before, and dumbly get them fixed without consulting.

I will post the result of my transmission story later after I see the dealer.
