Civic EX 1.7L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 170,000 miles

My transmission just died yesterday at 170k. It was right at the intersection during rush hour in the evening. I took it to a local shop and the mechanic quoted me for $2,000 to rebuild it. He said everything inside the transmission will be replaced with new parts and it will be like a brand new again. Is $2,000 a typical price to get a transmission rebuilt?

Civic EX 1.7L I4

  • Automatic transmission
  • 108,769 miles

Like most complaints on this site, the transmission failed and needs to be replaced. I've contacted Honda about this but they haven't been of any help. It's shocking to see that so many have gone bad and owners are stranded. I'm doing everything I can to get the word out on this problem.

Civic EX L4 1.7L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 105,378 miles

I got the Engine light on at my 105000 mile and got 2 codes,

P1298 AND P0740. I understand that for the P0740 I need to change the transmission. 100K is a significant mileage on the car, but it is definitely not fair that I need to change/Rebuild the transmission with 2.5K to 3.5k$ expense.
