I bought a new 2002 Honda Civic from a Honda dealer in 2002 and added the spoiler option since the 2 door looked a little funny from the side. They added the spoiler afterwards so I don't know if it was an "authentic" Honda spoiler but I think the issue is worth mentioning. After about a year the brake light stopped working. I put off looking at for several years until one day I felt motivated enough to see what the problem was. I live in Toronto, Ontario Canada so the cold weather is somewhat harsh and salt is put on the roads whether it is needed or not. So I tried to remove the screws but they were corroded beyond recognition. I had to drill out the screws just to get the light off. After I got the light off I could stuff rattling loose inside. I checked to see how to open the plastic light but it had been heat sealed all around. Determined to get into the light I took a rotary tool and cut the light open. All the LEDs fell out of the housing and the PCB holding the lights had corroded so much that the trace had come off the PCB. I called a Honda dealership and they wanted $300.00 for a replacement. I found an aftermarket part on the internet for $100.00 in the US but I couldn't be bothered with International shipping with taxes and tariffs. Therefore I did nothing and have a black hole where the light was.
