Civic LS

  • Automatic transmission
  • 106,874 miles

I bought this car used for my wife because we need a car that was good on gas, especially with the gas prices. So I bought her this 2003 Civic with 101k at the time. We have only put on 5k miles today and have owned the car about 9 months. In this time, I have replaced sway bar links, exhaust manifold, TB/ WP, oil pan gasket, and did a tune up. Costing me about 700$ plus and now... We just got back from a trip and my wife is telling me it's making a noise at idle. So i'm thinking that it's a heat shield loose from the new exhaust manifold... NOPE! Some how we have rod knock!!! Now we have to replace the engine or trade it in and hope we get enough out of it...

This is BULLSH*T! HONDA WTF IS WRONG WITH YOUR CARS!!!!!!!!!! I made an Integra that went 200k and said, damn let's keep on getting honda/acuras. NOW! i don't want to own anything with an "H" on it. Your cars are sh*t and the way you treat your customers is sh*t. Loyal honda owner walking away after 10+ years of owning nothing but acuras or hondas.

I'm going to go buy a Subaru... Thanks a lot of the massive amount of money i've given to stimulate the economy...

Civic LX 1.7L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 62,758 miles

It was a dream come true in March 2003 when i bought a Honda civic 2001 with auto trans.Enjoyed riding it almost a year smooth with proper usual maintenances like oils, brakes, suspensions etc. util a fine morning when transmissions failed.Hard to fix it from private garage buying gears from the monopolistic Honda dealer as the repair quote was too expensive to bear. The whole process took about $1600 off my already torn back pocket plus a weeks job at my office including mental trauma and harsh weather in desert conditions.Later came the big bang after a year when the mechanic found reasons for engine vibrations. To everybody's horror at the place, engine coolant was getting mixed up with engine oil which caused the sides of pistons erode. The mechanic removed engine head to show the dirt. The best option..to my burn my ass...is to replace the whole engine. Honda...the name i used to boast about began hating... I selected a 2003 model 1.7 ltr engine which seems to be clean from the bunch of scraps at a re exporters graveyard.Fixed it,on the road.... again for $3000 plus 2 work weeks ...plus not to mention, fiercely screwed up head...or is it ass?. Since then was extremely careful even while removing a dust particle from the exhaust let alone controlled poised driving.met the grease monkey more than i did it with my girlfriend.changed and maintained any possible parts even before anybody thought of a fungal attack. Now,,all of a sudden on E11 emirates road the baby stalled as if an aircraft dropped off its engine at 150Kms,A/c,radio running smooth and engine warning light on.OHHHHH....i cannot still believe yet...God's grace i donno how i was able pull to the shoulder at the right most lane without getting hit from the bullet speed passing cars and trucks. Turn back the keys and turned after few seconds..the engine light gone and back to running state again..!!! I drove back home at the slow speed lane, kept the car for 32 hours checked all parts again began driving to smaller distances about 25 Kms again.Obviously avoiding highways..only through interiors. The car stops at its will any time would start at the next second without any hitch. Is it the engine electrical system,a bite/misses of fuel injection from the pump..? airsupply trouble..? i donno...Thats when i googled it to this forum. am i going to burn my right ass also with this HONDA..?million dollar question..is in it?.Suggestions are welcome.
