SRS light came on in my 2004 Honda Civic LX coupe. Took it to the dealer and diagnostic code was seat belt tensioner. Light went off and passed initial test but when I was driving it home from the dealer it came on again. Now I have to take it back and I don't think it will be cheap to fix. Seems to be a common problem in Hondas. Why aren't they recalling them?

Originally, the SRS light came on in middle to late 2009 and while I was at the dealership having the driver's window, driver's door lock, and the wheel bearing replaced, I showed them the light not knowing what it even indicated. They told me that they ran it and the code said it was the seat belt buckle and a sensor was bad. They replaced it.
Friday March 5th (last Friday) on my way to work, I noticed that the light had come back on. Took it in and they checked it and couldn't figure out what was going on. Reset the light and by Friday night, it was back on. Took it back over yesterday, they told me that it's still saying that it's the seatbelt again from the code they got. They said it was very unlikely that it was two defective parts and that either I could ignore it and have none of my extra safety features to include the airbags, or I could pay them anywhere from ninety to nine hundred dollars to tear apart the car and look to see if a wire is loose.
How will I ever be able to trade this car in if I have disabled airbags? I'm so sick of everything that's happened with this car, I'm nearly about to just get rid of it and even at cost to me. It's been nothing but trouble and I have always bought Hondas, as have a lot of friends and family! Never once have I ever seen someone so unlucky with their car, especially their Honda, but I see that I'm far from the only person here who is having a problem with these issues. They're trying to blame it on a wreck that may or may not have happened on the passenger side of the car (where the electrical problems are) before I even owned the vehicle. I have never wrecked it. It's been nothing but a money pit and the amount of money we've spent in the last two years on the car is up in the thousands! It's only a 2004! Unfortunately, there are no recalls on my car to explain this, but I'm beginning to wonder after seeing all the other complaints on here.

Shortly after picking up the car from the body shop with in a few days the SRS light came on, was told directly from Smart honda the bags could deploy at anytime, goes to find out the seat belt buckle was bad, was causing the sensor to be tripped, causing the Air bag light to come on, total cost to reset the SRS system and seat belt came to $575.00
