I was traveling on a major highway when I noticed the engine revving high. I looked at the shifter and noticed I was in S so I pushed the shifter into drive and the car died right in the fast lane of an extremely busy highway. I looked in the rearview mirror and saw cars just swerving, screeching, etc. I did get clipped on the right rear, not only was I very lucky, but I was fortunate none of the other vehicles wrecked into each other. I have read both on this link and edmunds of people having problems with these 2005 Honda Civic hybrids dying when put into drive. I still need to take it to Honda, but I need to take it to the body shop as it is not exactly drivable.

I was driving my 2005 Honda Civic home on a Saturday night when all of a sudden the car just went dead, I drifted to the shoulder of the road and sat for about 10 minutes, then I tried to start the car it started, about 4 miles down the road and the car went dead again, this happened 4 time in a matter of about 15 miles. I drove the car to the dealership. Monday morning they called and said they could not find anything wrong.

While traveling down the highway I hit a deer head on. The deer destroyed much of my front end but the motor was still going. I applied the brakes and after about 15 seconds the car started to accelerate and couldn't be stopped. Since it was a hybrid it felt like the electric motor kicked in for some strange reason and the car couldn't be stopped. In order to stop the car I put it in to park while it was moving. The car continued to try and accelerate but since it was in park it was just moving slowly to a stop. Although this wasn't deadly for me it could have been if I wasn't on the highway or if I was knocked out. I don't think a car should accelerate for no reason.
