I had Honda Civic 2005 VTi Oriel Prosmatec 1.6L VTEC. It had automatic transmission. At the speed 100km/hr the engine RPM would used to be 2500rpm. I sold that car and bought a different one with same specifications (Honda civic 2005 VTi Oriel 1.6L VTEC, but MANUAL Transmission) In this car on speed 100km/hr the engine RPM reaches 3000rpm. Both cars having the same engine arent they supposed to have same RPMs? I am wondering if something is wrong with my car's engine and higher RPM would definitely effect fuel mileage.

I was completely stopped at a traffic light, with my foot on the brake pad. All of a sudden, the engine started surging (my foot was not on the accelerator), so much so that I could not restrain it even by pushing as hard as possible on the brake, and ended up bumping into the car in front. No sensors or lights came on. I took it to Honda dealer, who ran the diagnostics and took it for a drive to replicate the event. They could not find anything wrong. I am now afraid to drive this potentially life-threatening car. What do you suggest now?
