Civic Ex Limited 1.7L I4

  • Manual transmission
  • 130,000 miles

Had 1992 Civic that ran like a dream all the way past 200k miles, so I decided to go with this new Civic when I got the cash. Then I heard a grinding when I let off the clutch. Did some research and found out it was the input shaft bearing in the tranny... Spent the money on the car to get away from problems like these. Very disappointed.

Civic EX Vtec

  • Manual transmission
  • 139,600 miles

My son has been saving for years to buy his first car. I steered him to a SAFE, RELIABLE, well known brand: Honda. I have never owned a Honda, but have heard they are wonderful. Unfortunately, the manual transmission began making more and more noise. I took it to three (3) reputable transmission shops and all three state that the input shaft bearing is bad. Now I have a kid trying to find a way to come up with $1200 to $2000 for a repair bill. I can swallow a new clutch due to usage, but an internal transmission problem on a 4 cylinder Honda is a disgrace. Poor job Honda!
