I have replaced at least six visors on my 2006 Civic Si. I would expect Honda to come up with a fix for this, and they have not. The visors split when exposed to heat from the sun, particularly when used to hold a sun shade in place. I recently bought my daughter a new Hyundai Sonata...I may sell the Civic and buy a Hyundai since Honda is letting it's loyal customers down!

Sun visor would not stay up. It split at the hinge. Took it apart to find a fix. It just seems like a bad design. Replacing seems the only option, however dealer asked $70 for the part and $70 for putting on the two screws.

Yet another...2 years after buying the drivers visor split. The part that turns to push the visor flat against the roof just rotates. Dealer fixed it for free as "loyalty". Not covered under warranty. Definitely a flaw in the design.

I bought my car brand new, and 3 months later I was having to get a new visor put in. At first I thought it wasn't that big of a deal, thought it was just mine. That was in 2006 since then I have had 3 put in. They were all under warranty until now. My visor on my drivers side just keeps splitting open. It would probably happen on the passenger side too from the looks of all the complaints. I haven't had a visor in on my driver side for awhile now because It costs so much to buy a new one. It was just annoying to begin with but I almost had a wreck the other day because I was blinded by the sun and had to hold one hand up just to block the sun so I could half way drive. Guess I'm going to have to make another complaint to Honda about Crappy parts.

We are a Honda family. The 2006 Civic EX was our 5th Honda since the early 90's. The passenger side visor broke about 2 years ago which we replaced at $70. I complained to the parts department then. About six months later, the driver side broke. I paid for a new one and once again complained. Now the passenger side is broken again. This is just wrong. I just sold our 1998 Accord and sure it had paint problems, but never once visor problems. This is an unnecessary owner expense that Honda needs to resolve. If you expect to keep your reputation for manufacturing an exceptional and reliable product, you need to listen to your customers.

Something has to be done. Please issue a recall. It becomes very frustrating having to drive around with one hand on the steering wheel and the other shading my eyes.

I've been having same issue with visors. It may be related to the heat in TX. The visors split open and fell apart. First the passenger and couple of weeks later the driver one. After reading the complaints here I don't want to pay multiple times for design flaw.
I called Honda customer service: (800)999-1009 and got a case number. Make sure that the customer service documents your case. If there are enough complaints they may issue a recall or service bulletin of some kind.

This is the 3rd set of sun visors going on my 2006 Civic. The passenger visor cracks and splits and won't stay up. The first and second set were covered under warranty. Now I'm into my 5 yr extended warranty and it doesn't cover "trim"! $70+ out of my pocket to cover what is OBVIOUSLY A DESIGN FLAW!
I'm furious and I will NEVER BUY A HONDA AGAIN! NEVER!

Third time replaced visor on this vehicle since purchased new in 06. This is becoming a 12000 mile maintenance replacement part. First the driver's side one went (warranty covered). Next the passenger side one broke at my expense. Again, the driver side one broke at my expense.
I suspect the vendor that sells this poorly engineered part is loving life.
No help from numerous calls to Honda Customer Service. As I told them, we do not use the visor for pull ups. It should NOT break.

The plastic visor breaks off, for a while I thought it was just due to summer heat, but apparently the visor is not well made looking at all the complaints. Definitely drives my wife crazy...hopefully the binder clips keep working, although seems odd for such a new car. The interior of this 2006 Civic looks nice, but some of the cost saving measures are starting to show through (or sound through in some cases) after the warranty period ended...

Same as everyone else, visor came apart, fixed under warranty, now came apart again out of warranty. This is a great car but this problem REALLLLLLLY SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The driver's side sun visor broke 1 yr ago and the passenger side visor broke 2 yrs ago. Now the passenger side visor broke again. There is definitely a problem that Honda needs to fix here and cover under an extended warranty because this is a recurring problem. I will never buy another Honda if they do not do right. These are great cars but if a problem persists then it needs to be addressed and fixed. I will rant and rave about this on all automobile surveys and reviews to draw attention and I ask all complainants to do the same so as to bring this to Honda's attention. My warranty expired this year so the cost of replacing the sun visor will come out of my pocket and to save costs i will put on myself after i get it ordered.

I've seen numerous complaints about this issue. Honda dealership told me the part is $61 . According to what I've read, it seems like I'll be buying several visors throughout the life of this car. They need to redesign the visors so that one replacement is all I will need, and really for a car this year, should be replaced for free by the dealership.

My passenger sunvisor broke last May - one month after my 3 year warranty expired. The dealership wanted $124.00 to replace it. Now, just last week, my driver side sunvisor broke. I have never had a sunvisor break in any other car I have owned. I wish Honda would try to remedy the problem or offer a better deal on replacing these visors as it is a manufacture defect.

I had the driver's side sun visor replaced twice while the car was still under warranty. It's been about a year since the last one was installed, and just the other day it snapped AGAIN. I called the Honda dealership where I purchased the car. I asked the service technician if this was a common problem, and she said it was a very common problem with the 2006 Civics, particularly when the weather is warm (which I have noticed, too). She said they would have to order the visor and it would cost at least $75 for the part. It seems that this is a major design flaw of one of the most BASIC interior accessories. If anyone has a success story for getting the visor replaced free of charge, please let me know! This is obviously a part that I will have to replace every summer, and I just don't think that's right. We don't even replace our tires that often!

Nearly cause major accident, was left turning on busy street when the visor fell in front of my hand while turning and couldn't grab the steering wheel while the car was in motion towards oncoming traffic.

I am now on my third driver's side visor. The first time it was covered by the dealership, but the second time I had to pay. I am definitely not going to pay again for a flawed design.
This and the horrible A/C condenser design on this car (broke twice) has led me to the decision that I will NEVER buy a Honda again. Hell, other than the crappy transmission on my 1999 Pontiac Grand Am, I never had an issue with that car. A/C never broke and no interior parts broke. Sure they didn't have good quality material but they never broke!!.
