Civic EX 1.8L

  • 256,112 miles

Love the car except for the wheel well covers and the front bumper. I had an occasion, while driving, that the wheel well plastic cover snapped off when I hit a pothole and the tire hit the cover. Shredded it! Replacement cost for flimsy plastic from a Honda dealer = $100+...

The other gripe I have is the car is so dang low! Whenever I accidentally go over the wheelstop, or the cement barrier at the end of a parking space, I know that the bumper is coming off as soon as I back up. The sides are held with very cheap plastic caps which I've replaced several times and they break often due to cold weather. Finally had to resort to using wood screws to keep the pieces together. Sore site but functional.

The front bumper has started coming off on both sides. The one screw that held it in place on either side wore through the plastic and the clips have to be constantly put back in. Not impressed with my Honda

bumper falls apart bumper falls apart

I hate the fact that when I go to park my Civic and go right over the curb protector with the front bumper of my car. One because the dashboard is so big that I can't see how close I am getting and when I do go over the curb while I am backing back off of it my whole bumper rips off. Now it is to the point where it won't even snap back into place.

I am very angry because I still owe so much money on my car. Things keep getting worse on this car and I can't believe that I am spending this much money to be nothing but completely upset the entire I drive it.

Civic DX 1.6L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 80,000 miles

Both sides of the front bumper where it connects to the car at the wheel well snapped loose. As did much of the crappy plastic under the car!! The plastic in the wheel well shook and flapped to the point that the tires were rubbing it and fraying it?? Cheep, cheep crap!! My kids had "matchbox" cars made better than this!! Disgusting! This car has been an absolute lemon!

Civic LX 1.8L Fi

  • Automatic transmission
  • 55,670 miles

At 55 mph on highway 441 in Florida, the car suddenly began making an awful racket like a jackhammer and sounded like part of a tire was flapping against a wheel well. I got stopped and found that the right half the front bumper had literally fallen off and had been hitting the ground and bouncing back up and slamming into the car at high speed. It could not be driven over 35 mph for the next 20 miles with my blinkers flashing on a 65 mph road. When we got to the next town, we used a half a role of white duct tape to hold it in place so we could drive it home. A dealer in Riviera Beach, near our home, told us we must have hit something, as the small plastic clips had failed, and refused to repair it under warranty. We have never hit anything with that car. If the clips on both sides had failed, we could be dead now. Clips have failed on other parts of this car as well.
