Bought a 2006 Honda Civic brand new. About a year and a half later, started noticing a small area on the top of the trunk where the paint was coming off. It gradually spread where paint was coming off from the roof, to the front hood to the side panels of both the driver and passenger doors down to the fenders. The car looks terrible, big splotches all over the car where paint has come off. It makes the car look really old. We had taken the car to the Honda dealership and was told that Honda doesn't have anything where they can re-paint any vehicle with this issue. Just happened to be reading a magazine called shopsmart which is put out by consumer reports and there was an article "fix your car-free". it mentioned that 2006-2011 Honda Civics having issues with cracking and/or chalking on the hood, roof, trunk or front fenders for certain colors. The fix was that the dealer will repaint the affected areas at no charge. In the article, it gave different websites to check out other complaints, find out about any recalls. Now I find out that there are many other owners having the same type of problem we are having with the paint coming off all over the car. Honda hasn't done anything to fix this problem nor do they want to take responsibility for this defect and simply re-paint the troubled areas. So, right now we're stuck with a crappy looking car.

Trunk latch suddenly failed. There is no keyhole on the exterior trunk, and the fob and interior switch can't open it. The seat releases are also in the trunk, so there is no way to fix the problem without going to the dealer, and they want to charge for the repair even though there are multiple pages of complaints on the web about the problem that date back to 2008. I can't get to my spare tire or any of my other emergency equipment.

2/21/2014 to whom it may concern, a very real safety concern! I was just going to pay to have this fixed and then looked on the internet and found that many people have had and does have this. It has been going on since 2004 - 2011 even on Lexus's according to the internet. The wiper will stop on the windshield and we never know when it is going to stop completely, it will stop and go and sometimes when it is suppose to stop it will not and when it is suppose to go it will stop and when it is raining and we are expecting it to wipe the window it will not and when cars are coming at us at night and when the window is not wiped, the headlight of the other car will glare on the rain drops on the unwiped window and make it so we are unable to see through that glare because we were expecting the wiper to do the job when it was suppose to. Please will someone do something for the public when we trust a reputable company like Honda to fix there problem and they want us to pay for the job when it is a safety concern of our and everyone else. I had talked to Honda and they very well knew the wiper motor was a problem for these years and they told me that they replace the cover plate or the entire motor. He told me that it would only cost about 250 dollars, I don't feel that I should have to pay that kind of money my wife and I are retired and on a fixed income and I feel that it would only be unfair for us to have to pay this. It is said on the internet that what happens is the grease in the cover plate area gets on the electrical contacts and causes the wiper motor to act sporadically may god bless you all! Had the 3rd gear transmission problem fixed at 45,000 miles and since then it has always driven different. Kept going back to the dealership and told me there was nothing wrong with it. Now at 87,000 it got taken in to get the front fenders and hood re-painted because of the faulty manufacturer paint. The car started clicking before I took it in and when pressing the clutch noise would go away. They did an estimate for my throwout bearing and the next day they called me saying the vehicle would move at all, that I need it a new transmission. Now the dealership expects me to pay them $4,000 in total for labor and to put a new trans in the car. I have always had problems with this dealership and had a few complaints towards Honda. I also had the motor top gasket replaced because it was leaking oil and got covered under warranty since it was part of a recall.

My Honda has been well taken care of. I have hand waxed it twice a year since I purchased it new in 2006. This past year, the paint on the roof and trunk began to peel off. The car now looks like its 20 years old and Honda refuses to do anything about it. Both visors on the car have broken 3 times, the trunk latch broke ruining $100 worth of groceries and the tires continuously warp due to a defect in the year model. Now, after replacing the battery I cannot get the alarm system to stop sounding. This year model Civic is such a lemon.

Air conditioner blows only hot air after driving on the freeway. Took the vehicle to dealer for inspection. Culprit was found to be a leaking suction line, probably punctured by road debris during drive. The location of the suction line is in front of the radiator, which is not protected by a mesh grill. Due to its location, suction line is easily damageable. Honda should provide free replacement because this is fundamental design fault. The dealer fixed this issue by replacing the fragile copper suction line with a heavy duty rubber tube and redirected it behind the bumper instead of in front of the radiator.

When going left to right near full lock on the steering our hch will pop in the front end. The car has been to the dealer 6 or more times in attempts to remedy the issue. When the car is in neutral it bumps the transmission engagement which causes the car to surge when rolling.

The visor on my 2006 Honda Civic cracked and has been hanging in my face blocking my vision since last summer. It if very unsafe for people to drive around with these visors hanging in their faces. They will not go back up once cracked. You cant even see the traffic light in front of you without leaning all the way over. Today it finally fell all the way off. I have found hundreds of these complaints and still no recall from Honda.

I have a 2006 Honda Civic. I have had to replace the rear tires on it 4 times since April of 2007. I contacted Honda today, December 2, 2008 after finding a bulletin that they posted about the problem, but because my vehicle is now out of warranty they refuse to reimburse me or pay to get this fixed. It states in the bulletin that the rear upper control arm is too short and that it causes uneven and rapid rear tire wear, as well as vibration at highway speeds. This is a hazard for me driving the vehicle as it is, but I do not have the money to keep replacing tires, nor do I have the money to get it fixed on my own. If they had sent me some type of notice or something I would have gotten this fixed while my vehicle was still under warranty. Things like this should be fixed by the manufacturer, or dealership for no charge because they are a hazard to us as drivers, and expensive to fix.

The overhead visors on both the driver and passenger side will not go back up to the original resting position. When they are pulled down, a gap forms between the hard plastic portion and the center portion. Normally, when they are put in the normal resting position the gap closes and creates a popping sound. Currently, the gap won't close anymore. I had this problem before with the visor on the passenger's side and a Honda retailer car shop replaced the visor. This problem seems to occur more in the summer months.

Both drivers side and passenger side sun visors broke before 30K miles, and dealership replaced. Visors have again broken, but car is no longer under warranty and the dealership will not replace. Many owners of same make/model car have complained about this same defect. I think a recall is appropriate.

I recently had an incident on my 2006 Honda Civic ex coupe in which the trunk lid door jammed and would not open. There are two ways of opening the trunk, one being on the remote and the other being the lever in the driver compartment. (the trunks on these cars do not have a keyed entry.) upon further investigation, I discovered that the trunk has no access from the outside of the trunk if the lid door will not open. These cars have a 60/40 fold down rear seat that is only able to open from inside the trunk. After speaking with Honda, they confirm that this is in fact the design if the car. My fear is that a small child will accidentally get locked in the truck of the car and the door jams. This could have deadly results because there is no quick way to gain access.

The driver's side visor broke off completely. The internal mechanism used to raise and lower the visor does not move easily -- now, not at all --causing the plastic visor to fall apart. Dealer has agreed to replace it, but it is on back order because of the number of complaints and problems with this component.

The contact owns a 2006 Honda Civic hybrid. While driving 60 mph, the contact heard road noise. The dealer stated that the rear tires were unevenly worn, but was unable to determine the cause of failure. The dealer advised the contact to not rotate the tires. The current mileage is 22,652 and failure mileage was 22,300. The consumer stated he has reason to believe the problem is the battery pack(between rear seat and trunk) is causing the rear tires to wear unevenly. Updated 07/10/07

: the contact stated there was a clunking noise coming from the front of the vehicle. The problem was getting progressively worse. The dealership determined the motor mount was bad. The dealership repaired the motor mount by replacing an unknown part, but the problem persisted. The dealership refused to repair the updated 10/25/2006 - the dealer replaced the side engine mounts but the noise returned. The vehicles power steering elbow inlet leaked.
