This problem started as if the battery was dying, as it got weaker and weaker, when it would start...and often I'd have to turn the ignition key off and on to get it to take off and start. I guessed the battery to be old, so I replaced it with a new one.
A week later, the same thing started happening again. I took the car to a local mechanic and was told that the starter motor was failing and needed to be replaced. So, I purchased a starter motor, at a local parts store and gave it to the mechanic to install. Since replacing the starter motor was going to require the serpentine belt to be removed, I also purchased and had it replaced too. The job took less than 2 hours by the mechanic, I was charged $90 for labor and I was happy to pay it and on my way. Approx. $300 for the starter motor and serpentine belt.

I first bought my Honda at Hendrick Honda in Easley,SC. A 2006 Honda Civic it was on their lot. (keep this in mind). I bought it and when i checked the oil it had big clumps in it. I took it back to the service dept. and they checked the engine and the oil and said they "strained the oil" for clumps and there was nothing. (Bought the car in Aug of 2011) Drove it, and months later i checked the oil again.....And still had clumps on the dipstick. took it back and they still said nothing was wrong with it. later in 2012 when i took it in for a oil change they let me know that there was a "Air Oil Seperator" problem and a crack was on the inside of the engine and that it would need a new engine block. They said it would be on them and only thing i was charged for was a belt to put on. NOW...the car has a hard time starting. When i go to crank it up it acts like it doens't want to turn over. then starts ticking. I have taken it to advance auto parts and they said the battery was fine and alternator was fine. Took it to another store Tire Kingdom and they said the same thing happen to them but again the battery and starter and alternator was fine. Took it back to the dealership and they ran test and the same problem happen to them but their words were "we have no idea whats happening" and that was last week 8-8-2012. Now 8-13-2012 i am still having the problem when i go to crank the car it acts like it is not wanting to turn over. The problem is this car was on their lot. that is what is troubling

Pulled into my parking spot and turned off the engine to my car I noticed a loud noise. I thought "Was that my car"? So I tried restarting the car and nothing it would not start or crank at all !.... later headed back out to the car to give it another try. This time it started but it kept wanting to kill. I could at least, confirm that the noise was my car! had the car towed to a dealership (Royal Honda in Metairie, LA) and was told I needed a water pump, a tensioner assembly, a pulley, a belt and some coolant and it would cost $740!! Called Honda cause I remembered something about having a tensioner replaced when they replaced the engine block (another prob I documented here) They said it was under warranty and some was under a RECALL and would be repaired for no cost to me. Royal Honda WOULD NOT HONOR THAT!! So....I paid $170 to have the car towed 40 miles to Honda of Covington...whne the tow truck arrived at Royal ...the windows were down and the keys were in the iginition. The driver and the servicemen needed to push the car out so it could be placed on the flat bed. I mentioned the windows needed to go up. When the driver tried to roll them up he found the battery was dead. I was like"oh man! I didn't have a dead battery when I brought it in!! They put the battery on the charger and within a minute or so were able to get the windows up. This just further urked me as I realized they had probably left the ignition on all night and drained the battery!! Car arrived at Honda of Covington where they repaired my car within 24 hours UNDER RECALL and Warranty!! They had taken the time to learn of a recall that was for a bolt that backed out of a pulley. (hmmm?)

Car would sporadically not start. Turn the key off, the turn on and it would fire. It would try to turn over but not fire the engine. Started 3 months after purchase. Dealer didn't find anything wrong because they couldn't reproduce. Seems like short drives and 5-10 min being off would cause it. Car would not turn over at all 2 days ago. Towed to dealer (extended warranty covered) and they said it was a bad battery. Out of 440 Cold Crank Amps it was down to 216. Over 100 lost in 5 months (may or may not have left a light on overnight). New battery they say fixed. Drove off the lot and to Home Depot, got back in and its back. They believe it is a fuel pump and are replacing. Will see if that does it.

About once every 75 starts or so, my car will not start the first time a try. When I turn the key I hear a strange sound coming from behind the instrument cluster. It always starts on the second try.

Honda is famous for the quality. But sometime i feel it is not truth. I was disappointed with our car.

Honda Motor company needs to address the problem. the car dealer is not able to fix the problem or cannot tell what is wrong.
