Over the last year I have notice reduced surge power when I hit the accelerator for when I need extra, short term speed (e.g., merging onto a highway). When I floor the gas pedal, I do not get any "assist" from my ima (hybrid motor), as viewed by the ima meter on my dash and felt in terms of actual increase in power/speed. This is exacerbated when the air conditioning is on. Further, I have noticed a reduction in fuel economy as well and think that this may be associated with the overall issue. The lack of "assist" is not all of the time, but once in a while and a noticeable difference in acceleration capabilities.

I have a 2006 Honda Civic hybrid. For the past six or so months sometimes when I attempt to accelerate after a stop or after slowing down the ima battery indicator will drop to 1 or no bars within a second or two. While this is happening and for at least 1 minute afterward I have almost no power and can barely accelerate. The loss of power is so bad that I have narrowly avoided crashes. This happens randomly, but more and more frequently. When it does happen, my mpg also drops quite a bit. Since it is impossible to predict it makes driving very hazardous. I have also noticed that the car is not going into auto-stop as often as it should be. I have taken the car to two Honda dealerships and both have said that they can't "duplicate" the problem and that no "codes" are coming up. The first dealership did nothing. The second one, which was where the car was purchased "reset the computer" but nothing else. The car has been given back to me both times and the problem has continued.
