Design defect of sunvisor on 2006 Honda Civic leads to failure of sun visor to stay in up position. Sunvisor falls down to block drivers vision. Problem is well documented by many owners on web sites such as www.usrecallnews.com/2007/09/major-Honda-Civic-recall-of-2006-and-2007-models.html to my knowledge Honda has not issued a recall or redesigned the defective part.

My driver's side visor is defective and hangs right in my line of vision when driving. The only way to avoid this is to tape it to the ceiling of the car. In talking with other Honda Civic owners, it appears that this is a product defect. My concern is that it impedes safe driving, but is costly to fix.

The contact owns a 2006 Honda Civic. The contact stated that the passenger side visor would not stay up in the vehicle. The seam in the top of the visor became unraveled. In addition, the plastic that faces the outside would also pop open, allowing the visor to stay in the downward position. When she unhooked the visor, it would continue to sway back and forth. The same failure occurred on the driver's side. The contact has to duck down to see the road while driving. The failure mileage was less than 30,000 and current mileage was 35,000.

Sun visor on my 2006 Honda Civic has cracked open and just hangs there impairing my vision of the road. This is the second time this happens, the first time was about a year ago and now it has happened again. I called Honda and they said they can't do anything about it. I am out of warranty and have to pay out of pocket. I have read on the internet that I am not the only one with this problem. I wonder howe many times we as owners have to keep paying for something that does not work. Clearly Honda is not addressing the problem as they are making money off of us and are afraid of losing some. If the visor impedes proper visual of the road wouldn't this be a safety hazard" does anyone have to get hurt on the road in order for this to be taken care of"

The contact owns a 2006 Honda Civic. The contact stated that the driver's side sun visor would not remain in the upright position when the vehicle was moving or parked. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer and they stated that there was a design defect that could recur. The vehicle was repaired for free. The failure occurred identically on two separate occasions on both the driver and passenger side. The failure mileage was 200 and current mileage is 3500. Updated 09/24/08. Updated 09/26/08.

Sun visors on 2006 Honda Civic breaks making it impossible to put the visor in the up position....metal bracket breaks the plastic around it when the visor is warmed by sun...when you put the visor back up it can fall down making it impossible to see. This defect has occurred on all three of the 2006 Honda Civics my family owns. The only way to repair the problem is to remove and replace the visor> Honda usa has no availability on the replacement visors as this problem appears to wide spread.

2006 Honda Civic have a broken driver's seat. Consumer states that she is having a problem with parts for the driver's seat repair and the dealership. The consumer stated the seat adjuster bar fell off. Also, when it was hot outside, the sun visor split which caused it not to stay up. Once the weather cooled down, the consumer was able to push it back into place. The windshield wipers were constantly falling apart. The dealer had to replace them twice.

The driver's side visor broke off completely. The internal mechanism used to raise and lower the visor does not move easily -- now, not at all --causing the plastic visor to fall apart. Dealer has agreed to replace it, but it is on back order because of the number of complaints and problems with this component.

The incident date is non-specific as this is an ongoing issue. The sun visors are very stiff and the effort required to raise and lower them frequently results in the visor springing away from the retaining clip. This movement could startle unsuspecting drivers or result in the visor hitting the driver's head. I have reported this issue to the local dealer and was advised that the visors had to be that stiff or they would "flop" down. This is inaccurate - we have a 2006 Hyundai sonata that has a very light action on the sun visors and to-date, we have experienced no problems with the visor "flopping" down. I had hoped that the visor mechanism would slacken with time; however, this has not been the case.

The 2006 Honda Civic sun visors for the front window on both the driver and passenger sides fall apart in the summer heat.
- Springfield, VA, USA
: the contact stated the vehicle's side and rear windows fogged up drastically on two occasions. The contact expressed that the rear defroster may be defective. The dealer and the manufacturer were not contacted.

Both driver side and passenger sun visors fell apart and would not open or close properly. This hindered my driving ability by not blocking the sun when needed and by falling open when not needed. Dealership replaced visors with the same type of equipment and told me to not be surprised if they break again because they believe the equipment is faulty.

Problem: Failure of sun visor on 2006 Honda Civic. I recently purchased a Honda Civic from mission valley Honda in san diego California. The car is now about 4 months old and both of the sun visors are falling apart. I know this is now a huge safety issue, but a visor falling off in a crash or during air bag deployment is something I am concerned with. On taking the car to the dealer they told us that the part is on back order because they are falling apart on many of the new Civics. I am writing this because I do not know if you have been informed of the problem, and it does seem that a re-design of the part may be needed to correct the problem, and may warrant a recall. Please feel free to contact me about this matter. -andrew gibbs.
