The contact owns a 2006 Honda Civic. The contact stated that the passenger side visor would not stay up in the vehicle. The seam in the top of the visor became unraveled. In addition, the plastic that faces the outside would also pop open, allowing the visor to stay in the downward position. When she unhooked the visor, it would continue to sway back and forth. The same failure occurred on the driver's side. The contact has to duck down to see the road while driving. The failure mileage was less than 30,000 and current mileage was 35,000.

Sun visors on 2006 Honda Civic breaks making it impossible to put the visor in the up position....metal bracket breaks the plastic around it when the visor is warmed by sun...when you put the visor back up it can fall down making it impossible to see. 2006 Honda Civic have a broken driver's seat. Consumer states that she is having a problem with parts for the driver's seat repair and the dealership. The consumer stated the seat adjuster bar fell off. Also, when it was hot outside, the sun visor split which caused it not to stay up. Once the weather cooled down, the consumer was able to push it back into place. The windshield wipers were constantly falling apart. The dealer had to replace them twice.

The driver's side visor broke off completely. The internal mechanism used to raise and lower the visor does not move easily -- now, not at all --causing the plastic visor to fall apart. Dealer has agreed to replace it, but it is on back order because of the number of complaints and problems with this component.

The incident date is non-specific as this is an ongoing issue. The sun visors are very stiff and the effort required to raise and lower them frequently results in the visor springing away from the retaining clip. This movement could startle unsuspecting drivers or result in the visor hitting the driver's head. I have reported this issue to the local dealer and was advised that the visors had to be that stiff or they would "flop" down. This is inaccurate - we have a 2006 Hyundai sonata that has a very light action on the sun visors and to-date, we have experienced no problems with the visor "flopping" down. I had hoped that the visor mechanism would slacken with time; however, this has not been the case.

Dealership replaced visors with the same type of equipment and told me to not be surprised if they break again because they believe the equipment is faulty.

Problem: Failure of sun visor on 2006 Honda Civic. I recently purchased a Honda Civic from mission valley Honda in san diego California. The car is now about 4 months old and both of the sun visors are falling apart. I know this is now a huge safety issue, but a visor falling off in a crash or during air bag deployment is something I am concerned with. On taking the car to the dealer they told us that the part is on back order because they are falling apart on many of the new Civics. I am writing this because I do not know if you have been informed of the problem, and it does seem that a re-design of the part may be needed to correct the problem, and may warrant a recall.
