Own a 2006 Honda Civic ex. The driver's side sun visor has split under the heat of the sun and no longer stays in the upright position. It flops down and is not only distracting, but can cause the driver (especially taller individuals) to not see traffic lights. I understand that many other owners of this Honda have the same problem. Honda needs to recall this vehicle and replace the existing visors with better designed ones.

Entered parked car and while preparing to begin driving, the driver side sun visor unexpectedly failed, hanging down obstructing driver's view. While an attempt to reposition the sun visor was made, the visor would not keep the position and would return to the hanging down position, making safe driving impossible. Another attempt to reposition the visor, this time squeezing the split plastic together, at the hinge, succeeded placing the visor out of the way. The visor has not been repositioned since. I have researched reports and even after replacement of the visor, the problem returns, often much less than a year later. It seems the failure is more a function of heat exposure, than time. In my case, the heat is not an issue. I drive the car back and forth to work only, and the outside temperature is usually 60 to 70 deg. F.

My driver's side sun visor on my 2006 Civic came apart replaced under warranty-when the passenger side came apart they refused to fix it had to pay to get a new one. This is a safety issue because it won't stay up and blocks the vision. Crappy product on a great car. Hold Honda to the fire please.

I have a 2006 Honda Civic. Both of my sun visors have cracked along the seems. This causes the sun visor to not go up. The sun visor hangs in my line of vision, it will not go all the way up or all the way down. This is a safety hazard.

Driver side sun visor split open and dangles in front of driver, blocking view of traffic, signs, and signals. While looking for replacement part on-line I found that hundreds, if not thousands, of other Civic owners have experienced the same issue and that Honda has not even reengineered the part. Honda apparently keeps selling the same defective part to owners of 2006-2008 Honda Civics repeatedly. At the very least Honda should be required to reengineer this part to eliminate the defect in the replacement parts.

Sun visors in 2006 Honda Civics are no good. We bought the car new and are averaging 1 sun visor per year. In four years now the driver side has been replaced twice as well as the passenger side. Now, the vehicle is out of warranty and they do not want to replace it. This is obviously an ongoing problem and Honda is or has done nothing the better these visors. It makes no sense for me to pay for the same product knowing that it will do same thing again. Honda needs to come up with a better design and recall these vehicle's before one falls down in someone's face and there is a serious accident.

Sun visors have a defect where they will not retract and hang in your face while driving. Dangerous driving visabilty. The visor either melted or has a defect which the dealerships know about but Honda will not recall or fix.

Sun visors on 2006 Honda Civic fail when they get hot and start to come apart. Eventually the visor is no longer able to stay up in either the full forward or full rear position and just dangles in the top half of the driver's field of view. This happened last summer on both visors and just happened again on the driver's side. Honda replaced the first set under warranty, but they replaced them with the visors of identical design.

The sun visors in my 2006 Honda Civic is made of plastic, and the plastic softens/melts to the point where the sun visors cannot be placed back into their original position nor do they stay put in the down position. This blocks a portion of the normal view of the road and can be a hazard. It is a terrible design that Honda needs to fix. I originally had Honda replace it as part of the warranty but have not gotten it replaced after the warranty ran out since it will continue to fail at least annually. It's sad to see that it is 4 years later, and they still have not figured out not to put those into that car. If I buy another car from Honda and it has a plastic sun visor, I will not buy it. It is a deal breaker B/C it is such a nuisance and is a perfect example of a company not learning and implementing their own lessons learned.

2006 Honda Civic. The sun visor fails. I bought my car new and after 2 years in 2008 the sun visor failed. The sun visor would fall down while I was driving and block my view. I would have to quickly release my grip from the steering wheel to push the sun visor out of my view so I could view where I was going. The dealer replaced the visors under warranty. Now, 2 years later (2010) the visors have failed again resulting in the same behavior. I have conversed with other owners of the same model and many have are having the same problem. I may get Honda to replace the sun visors again but they will most likely do the same thing in 2 years.

Under normal use, the sun visor hinge breaks, causing the visor to split at the seam by its mount. The visor is difficult to put back in the upward position and will not stay in a forward position. It falls straight down impeding visibility. If forced back into the upward position, it will stay out of view, but will not function for its intended purpose; therefore, there is no usable sun visor. The car was purchased new in October 2006. The visor was first replaced by the dealer in 2008. It broke again in early 2010. Searching the web, I find that this seems to be a common problem that has gone unaddressed.

Driver's side sun visor cracked open in 2006 Honda Civic ex. From information on the net, this is a common occurrence, and Honda does not want to see this as a safety hazard. I almost got into a wreck when it suddenly flipped down in my face. I also can not see at night to drive. Honda does not want to replace the defective part at their expense. They want to charge you $70 to fix this plastic hazard.

This will be the third time I've had to have my sun-visor replaced on my 2006 Honda Civic. The visor clip breaks, leaving the visor to hang down into your face. The visor will neither stay up or all the way down. It poses a safety hazard during both day time and night time driving. The first time the part was replaced when I bought the vehicle at 9 months old; the second time it was replaced was a year and a half ago. Yesterday I went to my local dealership for an oil change and to have them fix the broken visor and they wanted to charge me 75$ for the part + labor + taxes. This is a safety hazard; also this is not a problem I caused by rough-wear--it just falls apart!
