I notified the dealership that I was having an issue with the paint. The person I spoke with asked me if I parked in a garage. I told her that I didn't. She said that this was the reason for my paint blistering.

I didn't find out until a year later, until the extended warranty expired, that this was a defect on the 2007 Honda Civics. Now Honda America tells me that the 7 year warranty extension has expired so they won't cover fixing the paint job. FYI this is the third issue I have had with this vehicle since I purchased it in 2011, which is due to a manufacturers defect. I used to be a loyal Honda customer, my next car will be a Kia.

I purchased this car used in 2012 with no visible problems to the paint job. I received a letter from Honda in late 2013 or early 2014 indicating it was extending the warranty on the paint to seven years from original purchase date. At that time I still did not see any problems with the paint. In 2015 the paint on the roof has chipped off (appox. 3" x 3" spot) and it happened quite fast and is continuing. I now noticed that the trunk area has many spots of discoloration, so those spots will more than likely start peeling/chipping. This is my fourth Honda Civic I have owned and have NEVER had issues with the paint. In fact, my daughter now has my 2001 Honda Civic and the paint job on it looks better than this one. Even though it is seven years old, there is no reason why the paint should look this bad. The warranty needs to be extended again to cover the terrible paint job!

Honda does not care about repeat business but I wonder how they feel about my car being a rolling advertisement for NOT buying Honda products!! I plan to put a sign on my Civic advertising its Paint job by Honda and occasionally driving it thru the Honda dealership on several of the next Saturdays!!! They could take lessons from KIA customer service's gas mileage rebate plan.

Clear coat is peeling back and paint is coming off. Car is in excellent condition otherwise but beginning to look like a clunker. Significantly affecting value of car. This should not be happening to a well-cared for car and Honda needs to provide assistance.

Was told there is a recall on this issue, but doesn't appear to be so for this VIN number. The paint and clear coat are ready to completely come off on the passenger side of the car. :(

Otherwise the car is in perfect condition. This will cause the car to be subject to rust.

The resell capability of this car is completely crippled by this incredibly unsightly appearance of the car. Honda refuses to do anything for it and I have never had a car have paint look this awful after normal driving.

VERY UGLY. I finally have a car that I can call my own. Bought it in 2007 new and loved it. Now the paint is dull and big ugly white spots on the trunk. There is signs of white on my car edges so before I know it, it is will be a white car instead of BLACK!

Honda did paint the hood due to the cracks that came up on Honda's Hood because it became a big complaint with Honda Owners...It looks soooooo gross I am embarrassed. I was told by a Auto place it would cost $1,600.00 just for the small area. That is NOT fair. The Honda's paint is not good quality and if they stand by their car (well the news on their safety issues states different) they should stand by their paint job too!

NEED HELP WHO TO TALK TO SO MY PAINT PROBLEM CAN BE FIXED BY HONDA. ANY SUGGESTIONS ANYONE/???????????????????????????

Yeah the Phoenix sun is brutal. But I've never seen paint explode and flake like this before; the paint guy who quoted $4000 said that metallic paint is worse for this kind of stuff. Definitely takes the long-term value of the car down.

THE PAINT ON THIS CAR HAS BEEN CRAP FOR YEARS. WE'VE BEEN A LOYAL HONDA FAMILY FOR YEARS, THIS WILL LEAD ME TO BUY ANOTHER BRAND - AS THEY DON'T WANT TO HONOR POOR PRODUCT QUALITY

THE PAINT IS FADED AND TOTALLY GONE ON THE ROOF (FRONT & BACK), THE TRUNK, AND THE SPOILER - WE HAD TWO MATCHING CIVICS - THIS IS THE ONLY ONE THAT FADED

Update from Oct 25, 2014: THERE WAS NOT 228,000 MILES WHEN THIS FIRST OCCURRED, THAT IS THE CURRENT MILEAGE

The paint on the hood of my car is hazing and the clear coat is peeling off, The hood of my car has white spots too. I took my car to the Honda garage in Moon Twp., Pa. with a case number and they said there wasn't anything wrong with the hood of my car, but they would repaint the roof of my car, but that I would have to pay $320.14 towards the cost of the paint job.

When I took my car up to the Honda garage, the service guy told me that there was a "Goodwill Recall" on the paint and that it had expired in September, and that I must have ignored the recall. I did not receive a recall on the paint or I would have had it taken care off. I think that Honda should have to take care of this problem without me paying part of the cost.

Granted, this isn't a safety issue, but it will certainly affect resale value when I get rid of the car at some point. Consumer Reports had a blurb about it a couple months ago and one dealer in town didn't know a thing about it. The other is at least willing to inspect the problem and consider fixing it.

I purchased this car from my local dealership, not Honda, Admiral Nissan, in December 2013. I paid 11 grand total for the car not knowing that about a month later, I noticed the paint peeling on the top of my car. I thought it was a sun glare, well my boyfriend goes out and takes a look at it and he says the paint clear coat is coming off the car. I was in shock, it is a 2007 HONDA for crying out loud, how can this happen?

I call the dealership I bought it from to speak to the salesmen who I was hoping would put me through to the manager who helped close the sale with me to talk about the issue, and he said that he would tell the manger to see what they can do for me. Well the manager never called, instead they put me right through to their detail guy and he calls and leaves me a message saying bring the car in blah blah.. They were not going to fix it for free. Now I know this is a Honda issue, and I am going to give them a call to see if they fix their screw up. This is their fault, not mine! I should not have to dish out a single dime for the car.

I Googled my issue and I'm not the only one with the problem. I want to note that I do not have a warranty on the car. If anyone else had this issue can you please tell me what to do. Will I have to get my car repainted? I will upload pictures. It seems to be getting worse by the day, more visible. For the money I spent, this is totally unacceptable.

I bought my 2007 Honda Civic new. The problem with the paint began this summer. It started with one spot, which grew larger each week. The paint looked to be peeling or rubbing off in a circular pattern. Week after week, there were more and more spots of paint that were coming off (only on the roof). It is now peeling off all along the roof of my beautiful Honda! It looks terrible.

I don't wash my car too frequently. I take good care of it though. In the winter, I make sure to wash it to remove the salt that gets on my car when roads are icy. I park my car in a garage when I get home from work. I cannot see how this is normal wear and tear on the roof paint job. Is there anything that can be done? I have received a few recalls on parts for my Honda, but none for the paint.

The paint on my blue 2007 Honda Civic is peeling horribly. It started ever so slightly on my bumper, my roof is a horror, and I noticed it is now starting on my trunk. I have been told Honda's paint only has a 3 year warranty. Has anyone been able to have their car repainted and been reimbursed? If yes, what process needs to be followed to do this? Thank you for your time.

I hope Honda stands behind their product. This is our third Honda and I have always believed that they stood behind their products.

Sadly, what I am reading online is that Honda has not been fixing these paint problems.

The paint on my 07 Honda Civic is horrendous!!.. I'm embarrassed to drive it.. It started with tiny cracks on the hood..OK, no problem, I bought touch up paint.. Now there is a white spot by the sunroof, no huge deal. Fast forward a couple months, there are MULTIPLE white spots on my trunk and sunroof..

SUPPOSEDLY it was going to be fixed at no charge to me because there was a recall.. I had my car at Criswell Honda for a oil change and to repair my sun visor. They took pictures of the 'hideousness' and I was told I would be contacted once the manager of the service dept was back in the office.. It has been about 4 or 5 months and I have still heard NOTHING!.. I've called MULTIPLE times and have been told I would get a call back, never did.. I left a message for the manager, never got a call back..

I love my car but the way this situation went, I'll never purchase another Honda, it's not worth the stress of being shunned when it's an issue the DEALERSHIP IS SUPPOSED TO FIX BUT DOESN'T WANT TO!
