As my first " big girl" purchase as a 22 year old young adult, I was very proud of buying my sweet, sweet, little Civic. I was so proud to be the driver of such a streamlined, efficient little ride. But, about a year- year and a half later, I noticed the roof of my car started to look less than fancy. In a matter of months, my entire roof was gone. Shortly after, to my great distress, I see that my hood and side panels have also started to deteriorate. I tried contacting my dealership to no avail....In fact, they didn't return the first three phone calls I made, and more or less shrugged me off when I finally went up there in person.

As a young professional, I DO NOT have the money to repaint my car. Believe me, if I could afford it, I would have probably had it done myself. But, that is not the case. I would like to remain a proud Honda owner, but for that to happen, someone has to give me and my little car the time of day- as they should.

I spent months researching and bought a 2008 Grey Honda Civic. I had the car two years when the paint started to peel. Now 6 years later the hood has 8 massive spots where the paint is gone. I need this car painted. Hope the dealer thinks so.

I had hail damage to my car and took my car to the body shop to get looked at. I noticed there were some light spots on the paint on the back of the roof after the hail damage. I had not noticed the damage before. The auto body person informed me that there was a recall or extended warranty on my particular vehicle for this exact type of problem. He also pointed out several areas where the paint was cracking on the hood that I had not noticed as it wasn't as obvious. He advised that I contact Honda so they could resolve the paint issue at the same time they were fixing my hail damage. I contacted my local Honda dealer and they said I was not covered by the extended warranty and that was it. I knew that wasn't correct so I contacted the nationwide center. They looked up my information and told me that the extended warranty expired 7 years from the date of purchase of my car. I am the second owner of my car so I had no idea when the original purchase date was. Honda informed me that my warranty extension expired at the end of March. So here it is in May and now I have a problem and it is no longer covered based on some arbitrary date that they chose but never informed me of the purchase date that I was supposed to be using to calculate my warranty extension. I dropped my car off today to get the hail damage repaired and Honda had just sent over two other Civics with paint issues. One had the exact same issue in the exact same spot mine has. I have always recommended Honda to people but now I am really irritated. I take care of my things and don't think it's fair that others are getting Honda to repaint their vehicles for free but now I am going to have to shell out a bunch of cash if I want my repainted even though it was no fault of my own. I tried to find somewhere on Honda's website to complain but couldn't locate anything. Who can I complain to that will draw attention to this matter? At this point, I'm debating repainting the areas or not. I wish I would have taken some pictures before taking it to the auto body shop but didn't even think about it.

My paint job on hood, top of car, and door is peeling and looks so bad I took down to get it looked at and Honda tells me that the door is not included in the recall. They also told me to make arrangement because they would have it for 2 weeks. So this will not happen, I'm all by myself, there is nothing I can do, Honda wins, I can't be without my car for 2 weeks. I've been with my ins.co for 15 years and they can't help me and I pay top dollar for it also.

So Honda's mistake and I pay for it or I drive a junky car that I pay dearly for. I see that this is their way of getting out of this recall, they were not nice about it at all. I use to talk very highly of their service dept. I've had all my services done there and they where always nice as pie to me. Until there is a problem. I have had 2 Hondas from them but this is the last one I will buy .

I noticed a little white spot on the roof of my Civic about a year ago but at 5 ft. nothing, I don't often see the roof of my car. I usually get my car completely detailed inside and out twice a year and then I do washes and waxes whenever needed. My boyfriend was washing and waxing my car this weekend and noticed that the one white spot I had noticed has grown and that four other areas on my roof are also spotting. The clear coat is vanishing creating white spots and spots where it looks like metal is showing through the paint. Even for a car that is 7 years old, I think this is outrageous.

I had a 1997 Ford Escort from 2002-2007 and that had no paint issues, I have also had older cars in my family and have never seen the paint do this. The roof of my car needs to be re-painted. I'm sure I will not be able to sell it as is.

White Honda Accord - first lost about a 2 1/2 x 2 inch patch of paint on the passenger side windshield pillar. Subsequently, more paint has come off in this area, mostly on the inside edge facing the windshield. This year, a about a 3 1/2 x 1 1/2" patch came off on the section above the rear window. My car has only 63k and is in excellent condition aside from this. Dealer said Honda cannot/will not offer any assistance. I plan to pass this car to my kids, who are both getting their licence. But with the paint peeling off, its starting to look like a junker. I think Honda should offer a repaint program through the dealer, even if the owner has to pay maybe 30-40% of the cost.

The paint is peeling from all areas of my car. Honda says they will only paint the roof, trunk and hood, leaving the rest of the crappy paint as is. The problem is with the factory paint and affects much more than Honda is willing to fix or admit to.

I've decided to not pay to have it painted. It has already allowed me to show several people the low quality product that Honda currently produces and talk them into to buying brands other than Honda.

It definitely would have been cheaper for Honda to do the right thing and repair ALL of the paint. I will continue to stop friends and family from buying Honda products for the rest of my days.

Noticed the halo white hazing appearing alongside the driver side roof doorway and on various areas along the trunk. I knew something was amiss but wasn't sure what the issue was as my last 2 Honda's never showed such defects in the paint job for the length of time on which I owned them.

Not until my recall notice was mailed did I realize it was the beginning signs of a bad clear coat/paint job. Took it to Fletcher Jones Honda in Chicago on Clark today. William told me his district manager would have to look at it after I insisted it was the beginning and I have 1 year more of this extended warranty until I'm sh*t out of luck and have to pay for their substandard job when it gets to be obscenely bad. Apparently they're only approving obscenely bad issues and trying to stave off people like me that have beginning stage wear. I'm the sole owner of this 07. I've owned two Honda's prior to this, one was a used Honda, black that I traded in around the 80k mark and that paint job looked like new with none of this clear wear.

I'm going to a 3rd party auto body shop to film them assessing their POV and to get their opinion as to a best/worst case scenario outcome based upon their experience and what they witness.

Will post video update as soon as possible.

I was unable to send picture from this computer. However to explain the problem of what appears to be a delamination of the clear coat on the front of the roof of the Honda began at the front center and has proliferated farther back.

There are numerous very small cracks appearing on the Honda hood. I have touched up chipped paint I felt was road rash caused by small pebbles hitting the hood of my Honda. I felt they were part of the use of the Honda and not part of these complaints.

I purchased the Honda from a dealer in Philadelphia, Pa 5 years ago. I now live in Western Pennsylvania. The numerous complaints from Honda Civics and other models owners, from 2000 to 2009, for these conditions, indicates to me Honda needs to recognize they had and have these problems and should be taking the responsible steps to correct their problems and make the owners of these vehicles whole!

The paint is completely peeling off of my 2007 Honda Civic lx. It started some months back and has continued at an alarming rate. It's only a 2007, I take excellent care of my car, this is NOT normal wear and tear. It looks aweful. I take pride in my appearance and I with how well I take care of my car I want it to LOOK like I take care of it. It looks like a P.O.S now! I have now learned by researching online this is not an uncommon problem for civic 2006-2010, so why do I have to pay to get it fixed??? I bought a Honda because they are suppose to last forever. I'm glad it's driving alright but it looks like crap.

My Honda was bought brand new a 2007 which makes it only 6 years old. The paint is coming of the top of the car and Honda told me it was due to not waxing the car. My friend the other day has NEVER had his car waxed and has no paint problems. Its impossible for this to be from sun damage I live in Chicago not in Florida. I want Honda to take care of this issue it seems to come up frequently on google and if it is happening to every Honda then obviously it is a malfunction.

At 55,000 mile the clear coat has started to peel off in two circular areas midline on the back of the roof. They are about the size of two grapefruits and then the peeling started to appear in smaller spots on the roof on the drivers side and midfront of the roof., Recently small "crow's feet" are appearing all over my hood and the tops of the front fenders. I took it to a custom paint shop and he told me it was due to a poor quality clear coat. If it is not removed down to the primer and repainted they would resurface. What has been an extremely attractive automobile now is looking like a old white rusted car!! The worse thing is to get it repainted it will be approx 2100.00!! and it only has 77,000 on it. It appears that Honda in 2007 tried to cut corners and it now showing up on MY HOOD! I am appalled and expect this to be rectified.

Civic SI 2.0L

Started noticing the paint on roof was not as glossy as the rest of the car. I used to detail cars so I knew what was happening. The clear coat on the roof was too thin. 6 months later and 70% of clear on roof was gone. Took to Honda Stealership and they only painted my hood and fenders because that's the only thing they admitted to(admitting to roof would mean thats around 50% of car and therefore would have to paint all). So I just took to a friend that owns a body shop and took care of it. Pretty annoying when my 1995 Honda Accord's paint outlasted this 2007 Civic Si.

Update from Aug 26, 2013: I also want to add I have seen at least 20 civics with the same problem in my area.

I take pretty good care of my car and I am extremely annoyed at the paint issues I have had with this car. I took my car in the last 6 months because I was one of the cars with the "crows feet" recall on the hood and bumper. Just now got my car washed and noticed the fading/clear coat failing on the roof near the sun roof on the passenger side. Clearly this is a manufacturing defect if I have already been in for paint recall work. Going to have to go and see what my local dealer can do. Hopefully they will make Honda accountable for the shoddy paint jobs on these 2007 civics! But my guess is I will have to foot the bill. I guess it could be worse, has been a great car otherwise....

Last year in October I started to see little spots on the roof of the car. Now it has spread and looks really ugly. The car is a 2007 and it should not be peeling like that. I am not happy with Honda at all. Paint work was done very cheap and now it's showing. My car is garaged and well taken care of. I have seen many complaints and Honda should be responsible for it.

This is my first Honda ever. Mechanically speaking it has done well so far. From a body perspective, it is a miserable failure. A few months back, I noticed a slight discoloration on the roof of my 2007 Civic. From January 2013 to now (July 2013), it has progressed to several spots with white spots all over the roof of the car. After doing a little research, I find that this is a VERY common problem with Hondas. The finish on this car is the worst out of any car I've owned. Ford/Mercury, Dodge, Nissan and Saturn...none of them had the issues the clear-coat and paint have that this car does.

If my Civic were 12 years old, I wouldn't give it another thought; but it isn't. It's only about 6 and I clean it often also...just as often as I cleaned all other cars I've owned!

Honda has addressed specific years that must have been SO bad and had potential damage to their reputation that they've extended warranties to cover problems like this...but NOT the 2007 Civic!

What's funny is; now that I'm cognizant of the issue, I've been looking at other cars and noticing the paint issues other have. Almost ALL of the ones I see are Honda!

FIX MY CAR AND FIX YOUR CRUDDY PAINT, HONDA! As of now, I'd buy a HYUNDAI before I purchased another Honda!
