I bought the car used from Cox Mazda in Bradenton, Fl Nov 02 2014 with 45683 miles. I have 56000 (approx) miles on it now and the brake pads are grinding. Back in January 2015 I took the car to Pep Boys. I heard a grinding from the front brakes (Cox Service Center was not open on Sunday) they found something in between the brake pads and rotor. They checked the pads and measured the rotors. They found 1 rotor that was undersized and the pads were close to be replaced.

I took the car for its first oil change and asked Cox Mazda to look over the front brakes, the lady service tech told me that the one rotor was a little bit smaller, and said it should last to about 70,00 miles, Well it didn't make that mileage. Now I need a new brake Job. The fronts, the backs are still OK. It's going to cost about $400. I'm retired and on a fixed income and its going to tough to pay for it. I've bought many other cars and didn't put brakes on them until 75-80,000 miles, yet this has 55,866 (56,000) miles and needs new front brakes.

I purchased this vehicle 2 years ago with 75,000 kms. The Dealership states that the quality vehicles are superb since they undergo a rigorous 123 point inspection. (Birchwood Honda Winnipeg) The brake Rotors (among other things) have worn out only after 23,000 kms (14K miles). My 2nd vehicle is a Chrysler 300 with 155K kms and I have never had to service the brakes. I realize that brakes are a wear and tear item but I never expected them to wear out so fast and to be charged through the ying yang.

I have only had the car 2 years and have babied it and serviced it on a regular basis. I am VERY disappointed with the lack of quality. Honda appears to have a reputation that certainly is not warranted. I will never again purchase a Honda.

Went in for my 60,000 mile service - while they fixed my defective short block. They replaced the front brakes which I paid for but when I asked for a copy of the detailed service inspection, it has that my back brakes are only at 20% capacity!

Replaced the brakes front brakes around 30K miles. Upon inspecting the rear brakes I saw that they also needed to be replaced.

that is not normal unless you use cheap, thin pads.

Tires also were worn out shortly after and then there is the issue of paint.......

I'm a second generation Honda owner, and over the past 20 years my family has purchased four Hondas, and I purchased one as my first car due to Honda's reputation of reliability. That is why needless to say I was furious to find out that 3 years in and a little over 30,000 miles I had to replace my front rotors. Upon inspection the Honda dealership noted that the rotors were in such bad condition that they would not even be able to machine them down. I was in shock since it is one thing to have to replace pads at 30,000 miles, but replacing rotors is asinine. From some of the complaints I have read, it looks like I actually made out pretty good making it as long as I did.

Much like everyone else, upon contacting Honda of America, they told me that it was wear and tear (read my fault), and that it is clearly not a manufacturing problem. When I asked the representative how that much rust and deterioration on a rotor is wear and tear when the car is driven on a frequent basis, has regular maintenance performed at Honda service centers, is kept in generally pristine condition, and mostly has highway miles on it, he had nothing more to say than the same old excuse of it's wear and tear.

Another note of interest is that recently Honda settled a class action suit involving '06-'08 Accords that had issues with brake wear.

The bottom line is that Honda is not know for luxury, they are not known for flair, they are known for reliability, the exact reason I bought mine, and the reason I now have to evaluate if I would do so again.

2007 Honda Civic LX

On 10/2008 the front brake pads were replaced following issues with the rear upper control arm which was recalled and replaced. On the same day we got the brakes fixed, we had to purchase 4 new tires as well. I argued that we should not have had to pay for the tires and actually only paid 25%. Even that was unfair of Honda! Its not my fault the recall happened and then caused brake and tire issues. Where is Honda's dependability here????? VERY DISAPPOINTED!!! Little did I know it was just the beginning.....

Took car to Elk Grove Honda and the wheels were not even pulled to see the condition of the brakes and I was sent on my way.A month later I had this awful noise when I applied the brakes. I then took my car to Carmichael Honda and need rotor and brakes replaced. This was a great disappointment due to me being single young mom. It took 345.00 out of our budget!!! That put a damper on my son's 4th of July.
