Transmission issue reported and the mechanic was surprised bc the car was running very well and I maintain it all the times. Engine light was on as well as the D was blinking Green at the time. Very Safety concerns when the car does have this issues, the car can-??t shift to next speed this could lead to a crash anywhere. Of course people start to get upset due to the car doesn-??t run as expected on the road. Mechanic changed the 3rd clutch for the transmission but after one week I h am having the same issue again. Transmission issues are very expensive and needs a very experienced mechanic to take care of it. The issue was confirmed by mechanic and certified mechanic place. I had to tow my car and costed my a lot of money. I will attach the communication with the insurance company.

My Civic was diagnosed with a cracked engine block, an issue known by Honda to be problematic, as they issued an extended warranty on the engines that ended in 2018. However, the extension has expired despite the fact that many Honda owners continue to experience this problem (see https://www.8thcivic.com/threads/documenting-cracked-engine-block-for-those-out-of-the-warranty-coverage.609546/page-7). This issue should be considered more serious than just an extended warranty, as an engine leaking coolant could easily overheat and cause serious problems on a road trip, especially in the part of the country I live in (Montana), where summers are hot and dry and wildfires are easily ignited. The Carfax report for the vehicle I own--which I purchased used in September 2021--suggested that this would be the perfect vehicle to buy, with a regular maintenance history and lower-than-usual mileage. No indication at all of an extended warranty or potential issues that I should be aware of. Fortunately a friend discovered the issue when he noticed coolant leaking when he changed a tire for me rather than me discovering it while driving to Colorado or Michigan to visit family, when the engine may have indeed leaked enough coolant without me noticing to cause serious problems. I am attaching the report from the mechanic who diagnosed the issue, which I sent to Honda to open a case for assistance with a repair (which they declined, citing the expiration of the extended warranty).

While driving my 2007 Honda Civic Hybrid at approximately 5 mph, entering a left hand turn from a complete stop, the passenger side driveshaft broke (i.e., the so-called "CV axle" on my front wheel drive vehicle), and a piece of the driveshaft approximately 8 inches long fell into the roadway with a loud audible clunk. We pulled off to the side of the road and were immediately able to retrieve the broken piece. I still have the broken piece in my possession, and I could mail it to an investigator if desired. Photos of the broken axle piece are also attached, together with a dealer repair invoice which lists the Honda part numbers for the replacement parts (due to an availability issue, the dealer used non-OEM parts to perform the repair, whose part numbers may or may not match the original OEM part numbers). It's clear from inspection that the broken driveshaft was initially covered by an anti-rust coating (portions of the coating are still visibly adhered), however most of this coating wore away and the underlying metal was substantially corroded by salt, which ultimately caused the part to fail. This vehicle has been registered in the state of Massachusetts (a so-called "salt-belt" state) for at least as long as I have owned it (since 2010) and possibly before that as well. The failure mode of the driveshaft (i.e., salt corrosion and breakage due to a failed anti-rust coating) precisely matches the failure mode described in an existing NHTSA Recall Notice: 20V-770, which covers this same part. This existing recall notice already applies to several other Honda vehicles in "salt-belt" states, however it does not yet extend to my specific model and year. Given the close similarities between the failure in my vehicle, and the existing recall notice, I would like to ask the NHTSA to further extend recall 20V-770 to incorporate my vehicle as well.

This all happend when I was driving 45 mph at night headlights turn off, dash lights flicker off an on car power tran jerking the engine stalls, and prevented the vehicle from being restarted, check engin light came on the car has been parked in the grarge since this happend 3 years ago it now starts but its throwing codes check engin light still on. After car warms up these same symptoms start to happen codes for powertran control modul computer and ima system this all happend suddenly without warnning.

"takata recall". the dashboard warning light has been on consistently since 2017 indicating that the passenger airbag is not functioning. The automatic transmission is not functioning properly. When going downhill, the RPM will increase significantly without using the acceleration pedal. Both sun visors are broken...each side came apart from the opposite side. The cd player quit working in 2016. The air conditioner quit working in 2016.

On January 2nd, 2018, was driving on a city street to a local aaa approved auto repair care center when the engine of my Honda Civic became overheated causing fumes/smoke. This could have caused a fire and would thus be a safety hazard. The purpose of taking it to the repair shop was initially just to get a vehicle inspection test/report done for vehicle registration. Due to the engine overheating, further tests were done, and replacing the water pump and performing vps coolant system flush was recommended. I had my vehicle towed to my regular mechanic who inspected it thoroughly and discovered a crack in the engine block. Online I stumbled across several web sites indicating problems associated with engine blocks with some Honda Civics. I called America Honda who said I needed to take my vehicle to a Honda garage to confirm the crack in the engine block. This I did and it was reinspected and confirmed by the Honda mechanics that there was indeed a crack in the engine block. My vehicle has been sitting at the Honda garage for over three months now while America Honda decided how much they can help with replacing the engine. They will replace my engine after my deductible of $2500. I have reluctantly accepted this as it's been a long wait and I need my car back on the road. I understand from american Honda that their extended warranty for cracked engine block was 10 years from first purchase and only the first owner would have received information on this warranty. However, I believe that a crack in the engine block that leads to an overheated engine potentially causing a fire hazard should be covered under a recall. American Honda needs to be held accountable for this defective engine. They gave me a faulty engine that could cause a fire due to overheating and should replace it entirely at their cost. I am thus making a complaint against american Honda.

The contact owns a 2007 Honda Civic. While driving at unknown speeds, the contact heard an abnormal clicking sound when the brake pedal was depressed. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that transmission fluid was leaking and the engine block was cracked. The local dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was notified of the issue and stated that the warranty had been extended; however, the contact missed the deadline. The contact was advised to replace the engine or purchase a new vehicle. The failure mileage was 163,000.

I have a rear wheel bearing failing. I have learned of a Honda service bulletin (07-055). The Honda dealership states that the work has been accomplished. The last step in the inspection/repair procedure (step 13) instructs to: Center-punch a completion mark below the seventh character of the engine compartment VIN: *slide open the frame number door on the center cowl cover. A long punch to reach the VIN. (see service bulletin for example) there is no punch mark on my vehicle. If this portion of the process was not completed, how am I to be ensured that the procedure was performed completely?

I was driving my car on highway at 60 mph and suddenly I felt jerk and car was shaking. It was very dangerous to drive. Suddenly engine light was on. Next day I took my car to my mechanic he told me it is problem with transmission. Soi took my car to transmission repair shop. The guy told me that transmission is failed, you can not drive the car. He told me Honda has problem regarding transmission, so I called to Honda and filed a complain, but they said we can not do anything. You have repair yourself.

My son was driving and in the middle of a 5 way intersection car would not shift into gear. My car is a manual transmission car made loud rubbing noise. Car was towed to Honda dealer. I was told in was a complete transmission failure and need a new transmission and clutch. I contacted Honda warranties I bought the car as a certified used Honda. It had 100000 mi warranty which I was past. Honda advise it was $3900 if fix and agreed to pay 1300. In reading all the complaints about the 2007 year I feel they should have paid more. Since owning the car I have received notices from Honda about engine leakage problem and that engine is covered for 10years, also rear control arms, and I just received in mail a class action law suite about premature break ware. At around 70000 I had to replace motor mounts that was covered by my extended warranty. I also had to replace the rear drum brakes at 90000. I have always driven a manual transmission car I have never had to replace a clutch every and keep most cars for over 150000 mi. And drum brakes should never have gone at 90000. I have to say very disappointed with Honda and from reading other complaints on your site there is problem with transmissions on this year.

I want to know if there any recalls on the transmission and if any repairs are being done or have been done. 3rd gear failure in transmission. Gear blew out the bottom and top casing of the transmission and destroyed the entire thing. Had to have it completely rebuilt (almost $3000). This was determined to be a mechanical failure. Prior to this, I noticed the 3rd gear was sticking/failing to shift properly and had the transmission checked and flushed. This only appeared to have masked the issue. After driving for about 30 minutes, there was a loud noise and the speedometer jumped to 0. the car wouldn't move, had to be towed (additional $100) and the repair had to be made. For anyone with 3rd gear issues - please have this checked asap and prevent yourself the extreme expense I had! it appears as if, after searching online, several people are having this issue...

I have Honda Civic si 2007. I have been experiencing a problem with 3rd gear. It pops out and sometimes it's hard to get it in the 3dr gear. The problem happened more frequently when the weather is cool and it's intermediate. It could happen 2 times a day or 2 times a week depending on the weather/driving time and conditions. I took my car to the Honda dealership in Mahwah, NJ (as I been told car has been taking for the test drive 7 times and total 22 miles on it)and nanuet, NY(2 times total 10 miles) and I also called Honda of America to file a complaint about it 3 times(case # [xxx]). as a result dealerships couldn't replicate the problem and Honda of America only can advise me to go to the different dealership. I have extended warranty on this car it will expire in August 2013 and as I was told at Honda of America it becomes my problem after warranty will expire. 3rd gear pops out for no reason. Honda will not fix my problem as it is no longer under warranty. I reported the problem when was still under warranty but they could not replictae the problem. Now they claim is too late for them to fix it. I did not find out about the service bulleting until recently. After being a loyal customer with more than 2 Honda vehicles I will never buy a Honda again especially when the us manufacturers are now making reliable and gas efficient cars.
