The contact owns a 2007 Honda Civic. The contact received a recall notice from Honda regarding the brake light switch on April 5, 2008. The dealer advised her to bring in the vehicle for inspection. Once inspected, the dealer stated that they had to order the repair part and would call her to schedule an appointment. The contact stated that the recall has been ongoing since the end of 2007 and the parts should be available by now. She is afraid to drive the vehicle because the brake lights may not illuminate. There had been no failure to date. The current mileage was 14,500. Updated 4/29/08

The "brake system" indicator light came on, and the brake lights on the back of the car did not illuminate when the brake pedal was pushed. The car was also difficult to shift out of park. The repair was the replacement of the brake pedal switch, a known recall on Honda Civics from the previous model year.
