The center third brake light fails repeatedly. It is an led light and safety factor. I am on my 3rd light on a 2007 model. First replaced in Dec. 2010, and again on Dec. 2016 an led light should last longer than then that.

Dealer complaint: Luther brookdale Honda 6800 brooklyn blvd. Brooklyn center, mn 55429 ph: (763) 331-6800 recalls: Takata air bags and following recalls listed. No incident yet! I have repeatedly checked with the dealer about the takata airbag recall and have been given one excuse after another. I have always been told they would notify me. I have never received a notice of any of the following recalls. I want these item fixed. My car is a Honda Civic 2007 but I only have 64000 miles on my car. Regarding : CNG fuel tank thermal insulator - never notified exterior lighting - never notified hydraulic service brakes - never notified while checking on the status of the air bags I discovered the aforementioned items. Note: The following required information does not apply in my case. I have not had a related incident with my care. I have used todays date to get this documentation to you and hopefully resolve the issue of unresolved "recall" service.

I am only entering lighting on this complaint. It is now apparent to me that most 2007 Honda Civic sedans suffer from failure of the third (high mounted) brake light. This light works intermittently and may not have been working at time that I was involved in a rear-end collision. I also own a 2006 Honda Civic sedan that has the same problem. In my day to day driving, I have noticed that most other Honda Civic sedans also suffer from failure of the third brake light. I feel that this is a manufacturer defect that compromises safety and should be investigated.

During a routine oil change 'equipment inspection' was informed the third brake light was 'burned out'. as this is a multi-light led, the probability of the all the led to have failed was suspicious. Dealer rep was very sure entire unit required replacement and quoted a price of nearly $200 for repair of a piece of safety equipment. Deferred repair to further investigate. Web search shows this is a extremely common occurrence on 2007 and later Civics. Problem is not the led but the solder joints on the assembly which fail frequently. As this is a design deficiency in a piece of safety equipment, one would expect a recall to correct. Apparently as the problem requires 'immediate' repair in most states with annual safety inspections, it has not garnered sufficient traction with NHTSA to warrant action. (note: Actual fail date/mileage is unknown).

My lowbeams all of a sudden stopped working. I checked the fuses, they are fine. My running/fog lights, blinkers, and high beams all work. It sounds exactly like the recall the dealer has for the previous generations of my car found here: Https://www.ahm-ownerlink.com/documentum/recall_press%2frecall_press_release_0000060.pdf.

Ex coupe models. 3rd high mount brake light malfunctioning. Vehicle failed inspection for this reason. Light came back on then went off again while moving wires a few times. Led light not blown, still working but wiring is causing the malfunction. Going to have the vehicle re-wired correctly. I see many complaints online from consumers with this same problem. Very expensive to fix. Led lights shouldn't blow out this soon but to repair the problem the whole led strip has to be replaced and only Honda carries the part. Its also very hard to access the led panel/strip for replacement. Re-wiring is the only cheaper option.

Reported to dealer that center high mount brake light worked intermittently. They could not duplicate problem. After brake light totally stopped working returned to dealer (10,000 miles later) and was told it was more than likely a burned out bulb. The brake light doesn't have a bulb but a row of 5 leds. Was told to return the following week to pay for diagnostic to determine the problem. I removed the light at home and found a clip the power wire going to the light was wrapped around was causing the problem. Taking the wire off the clip where it was tightly wrapped around fixed the problem and the light worked every time the brake pedal was depressed. Still waiting to contact Honda usa about the problem. Looked up the problem on google and found several other complaints about the light not working consistently. The design of the led brake light seems to be the cause of the problems.
