Civic SI 2.0L

Sigh... my beloved Carla has decided today was the day she no longer would allow 3rd gear to grind. Coasted off the highway, went to move forward, and it became apparent when I tried to push into 3rd gear. It felt like nothing was there. I let the clutch out and it only revved. My guess is the fork bent as i have no problems going into 4th gear (or any other gears for that matter). First tranny shop quoted $4600 for a used transmission swap. Second shop quoted $2000 + parts (so more than likely $4000 at the end of the day). At this point, I'm going to call it terminal and change vehicles I think.

My 2007 Honda Si 3rd gear is out. 80k on car. Today is 8-18-2014. Car has been in the shop multiple times for eating up tires to engine problems, all covered under Honda Care. Out of warranty by 6 weeks now.

This is a known problem with this year's model but like GM, Honda won't admit to it. So it will cost me $2000 for the fix. I called American Honda and they said 'no help of any kind from us." If you are considering buying one of these you might want to check the internet for its problems. Also buy a warranty if one is available, you will probably need it. I have owned 5 Hondas and each of my children drive a Honda. This is the only "Lemon" out of the bunch.
