Driver seat: Broken welds on the bottom right front of the seat due to use of poor material (very thin metal tubes broke). This happened while driving the seat lift system is attached to this tube and the seat pulled to the left abruptly and startles you. This is a safety issue due to that it happens when you are driving it. Then after this occurs the seat is no longer fully functional. You have to drive with it all the way down but the seat still moves due to the broken tube. Honda should replace this or supply a kit to repair this issue. I have been the only owner of this vehicle.

The car has a problem with the SRS wiring harness that controls airbag deployment and driver and passenger safety. This causes the airbag light to come on and prevents proper deployment. The problem is extremely common in Honda, specifically 8th generation cars. The cause is a poorly made wire that gets caught in the passenger seat track, causing a short in the wire. It can only be repaired properly and safely by removing the entire wiring harness and replacing it. This requires that the carpeting and the dashboard be removed and takes 6-8 hours worth of work, and is replaced with a $200-400 part depending on where you take it. It cannot be fixed easily or affordably by the consumer, and prevents the car from being safe to drive or passing inspections in the state of Virginia. The problem may have occurred sooner, as the vehicle was only purchased used a few months ago. It happens in most Honda and is not covered by the manufacturer's 150,000 mile warranty on other parts despite having released a tsb to all dealerships because the problem is so common. It presents a danger to drivers and deserves to have a recall issued.

I am complaining about the design of Honda Civic seats which cause me severe neck pain and headaches. I've researched online and seems this is a common health problem among many Honda owners. Apparently Honda is aware of the neck and back pain they have caused, but I've not been able to find any solutions, other than to sell the car and take a $2000 to $4000 loss. Honda needs to be held responsible and step up and fix their problem, as Toyota was made to do and as any other first class company would do!! these seats can cause serious back and neck trauma. Unbelievably shameful for a company such as Honda.

I have owned a brand-new '08 Honda Civic LX four-door sedan, mt for approximately 4-5 weeks. I drive my car 5 days a week, roundtrip each day 140 miles. About 3 weeks in, I suffered excruciating neck/shoulders/back pain. I adjusted the seat all kinds of different ways and moved the headrest up and down, to no avail. Finally, I ripped the headrest completely out and then I drove pain free for about a week. Now, the pain is back, even though the headrest is still facing backward. I have contacted my dealership but haven't heard back yet about a solution. I'm still in severe neck pain, and I currently have no whiplash protection, should I crash, because the head rest is tilted too far back. The forward-jutting headrests are supposed to be a whiplash safety feature, but what good is it if I remove it because I can't tolerate the pain I'm in every day? there is a ton of internet chatter out there about this problem. Thank you.
