Since it was brand new, my civic 2008 had problems to start up at the first time in the morning. After few tries (after 3-5 times) it finally starts. But it's frustrating that a new car behaves in the morning as do the old engines with carburetor after a long period of inactivity when the gasoline is flushed in the line . When I reported this problem to the dealer they blamed the gasoline, arguing that the dirt in fuel had fouled the fuel pump.
Now with almost 100,000 miles that I had to replace the fuel pump I thought that the fail was going to disappear but not, the fail remains the same in car with a new and original fuel pump. So this is the first and last Honda.

The problem with not starting on the first try is a nuisance. It has always started on the second try whenever this happened. It has only happened a few times in seemingly random conditions.

3 times car has not started on 1st try. Makes a loud noise but doesn't start. Honda will not even look at it until they can duplicate the problem.

20 times our car has not started on 1st try. It makes a loud grinding noise similar to the sound when you try to start a running Civic, but with an added metal on metal sound but still doesn't start. When you hold the key, the car lags and starts very slowly. Everything tests fine including the new battery. Honda will not look at it until they can duplicate the problem. I asked them to pull the starter at my expense to exam it for damage but they refused because they couldn't repeat the problem.
