2008 honda civic coupe transmission problem. I hit the gas, rpm up to 7k and car did not accelerate. car felt like it was lurching and then stopping. was trying to pass on highway and almost got hit. brought it into dealer and they found nothing. 1st day of problem see next post.

Already replaced transmission with new one, and I'm seeing the same issue - upon slowing down or stopping at a stop/light/ yield, car lurches suddenly - as if it "falls" from 2nd to neutral, stays there for a few seconds, and then suddenly jumps into 1st or 2nd without warning, with a strong forward jerk. It only happens between these 2 gears. Almost as if trans is "lazy". It becomes a problem where you slow down into "Yield" intersections and crossing traffic moves towards you - serious risk of being T-Boned, particularly when oncoming traffic is large trucks entering a go-round. Already been in a few instances where my peripheral visual perception is that I'll be labeled "hospital-ready" in the next few seconds.
Lots of other people on the internet complain about the exact same issue. Honda will NOT acknowledge problem and dealers have told multiple web users that this "neutral" and "jerking" is perfectly normal.... Uhm... this is not the type of "normal" I look for when I buy a car... if I really want to be hit by an on-coming truck, I'll just step in front of it myself, thank you very much.
