The knocking noise occurred when the steering wheel was fully turned to the left and the car was turning left sharply. For example in a multiple storey parking lot. I guess the weight of the car shifts to the right side and created pressure on the right drive shaft.

Given that I had less than 60000 kms I was very surprised & disappointed that this happened. I've never had a car that needed a new drive shaft. Dealer told me it happens but rarely.
