Complaint 2 of 3 Tired of buying new tires because this car has terrible suspension and the tires wear unevenly on inside of back tire. Alignment checks ok when new tires are installed but within a couple of months the back tires are worn out again even with constant rotating....3 sets, 50k miles.... REALLY Honda???? Not very reliable

This is complaint one of three on this same problem. We got the car in March of 14 and the tires looked good. within 3 months they needed replacing. We put a new set on in June 14 and replaced 1 of those due to road hazards. They wore out very quickly so we bought a new set. One of those was replaced after hitting road debris. So with four new tires again, we expected to be ok for a while, wrong.....those tires are now worn out and all of this is in 50k miles!!!! 3 sets in 50,000 miles seems excessive to me since I got 52k out of a set of Pirelli P zero 20's on my Camaro RS. The tires do not wear evenly even after constant rotating. This is getting very old....HOW did Honda get a reputation as reliable????

So here we are again, needing tires because ours are worn out all unevenly. We thought we were saving money with this car but we could drive a big honking SUV for what we spend on tires for this one! We are needing our fourth set of tires due to uneven wear on the rear tires. we rotate them often to help prolong the life. But we have put only about 50000 miles on it and it has eaten 3 sets of tires...plus 2 extra that were damaged by road debris. Do I scrap the car or buy new tires AGAIN???? Hmmm 14 tires in 50k miles....my math isn't real good but I think that really sux!!! By the way, its not my driving because I got 52k out of one set of Pirelli P Zero 20's on my Camaro RS.

We replaced the tires three times in three years. the tire wear is not an even tire wear. it is on the inside. With each of the new tires we had alignments and tire rotations. It feels when you are driving in the car that the car is going to shake apart from the vibration. We thought this time it was not the tires so we replace the shocks, struts, but the vibration did not go away. The mechanic said it was the tires. He is another $450.

2008 Honda civic, have to replace tires every 15,000 to 20,000 miles. Noise coming from back tires, very loud. I will not buy another Honda again. I have bought 3 sets of new tires since 2008. only 93,000 on the car

My first car was a 1995 Honda Civic. My second car was a 2004 Honda Civic. So when car shopping the last time a few years ago, I automatically put Honda Civics in my mix. I considered Toyota Corollas and Camrys, Mazda 6s, and Hyundai Sonatas. After my comparing and research, I decided to stick with the Honda Civic. They are small but spacious, get great gas mileage, and are reliable. However, I was so wrong with my 2008 Honda Civic Ex. I have had so many problems with this car, it's incredible. I AM BROKE!!!!
My problem 2 months ago - I had new tires put on the car 2 years ago. 65,000 mile guarantee, I drove NOWHERE NEAR that amount. My car had been riding very rough. I walked out of my daughters daycare and noticed extreme wear on the read passenger side tire, to the point where it looked like it was going to pop. Took the car back to the tire place, they look at it, say it's a bad alignment. Replace 2 tires and get a realignment. But they can't seem to get it to realign properly because the bar or whatever is bent. Therefore, the tires aren't guaranteed for their mileage anymore. That'll be $600 on the Discover card for 2 tires and an alignment... (Not even the full required fix!)

08 Honda Civic. Tires wore out in 2 years and they wore extremely uneven. My husband knowing about cars said there is something wrong with the car alignment or something of such. So we went to our Honda dealer where we bought the car new, and they denied any problems and said maybe it was faulty tire, so then we ask the question, well we bought the tires from you what can you do for us?? Nothing.....
After calling and trying to deal with this problem for months they got back to us with a lousy 20% off new tires....lol. That was a joke. So we went elsewhere and bought new tires...Good Bridgestone tires, and well, what do you know, they have worn the same and now I am pricing out new tires and mechanics can't believe that Honda wouldn't fix this problem for me from the start.
So now I see on this webpage that they're admitting that there was a problem all along. I am furious. Wish me luck. I am going in there to complain.....

I am tired (pun really not intended) of replacing my tires every 2 years or less. It started in the winter when my Civic would start to vibrate at highway speeds. It wasn't bad in the summer but has gotten worse as the car has gotten older. This is a major fault with Civics and I will not buy one again, despite all the other positives of the car. And now i have had to replace the brakes and causing another major payment to the car. I've paid for balancing and rotations to no avail. The mechanics told me nothing of the short control arm problem, which I'm sure would cost even more money and there is no guarantee that it will completely eliminate the problem.

I installed 4 brand tires 6 months ago and I have driven about 10K miles, the rear tired are worn out. I had same problem before but I thought it was alignment, so I did the alignment and installed new tires but the problem still there.

The rear tire wore out fast, they were cupping and vibrating and noisy starting around 20,000 miles. At 30,000 miles I could not wait anymore. I bought 2 new tires for the back, the front tires were still ok. Then I took it to Round Rock Honda for alignment. Everything was good then, I had the new tires at the front. After another 20K miles, I replaced the 2 old tires with new ones. I kept balancing and rotating the tires. But at around 70K miles the rear tires started to wear out again. I rotate and balanced the tires. Now at 88K miles, the car starts to vibrate and noisy again at 65MPH. The tires were supposed to be good for 60-70K, but the uneven wear . I checked w/ Discount Tire, they claim Civic has problems w/ tire wear. So I checked on internet, found the issue about Honda Civic Premature Tire Wear. I went to Round Rock Honda, but they won't replace new control rear arms and do alignment for free. I have to pay around $450.00. I filed this complain first. I'm planning to replace the old two tires again for now. The look for Honda to replace new control rear arms and do alignment for free.
Update from Feb 14, 2013: I called another Honda dealer to verify, they are claiming there is no issue w/ 2008 Civic LX sedan, which is not listed in the TSB 08-001 (2006 and 2007 only). So I guess there is not enough complains about this tire wearing fast issue yet. If Honda keeps playing dumb, my last resort would probably be selling this Civic and consider buying a Toyota instead of a Honda.

I had to have all four tires replaced on my 2008 Honda Civic LX at 34,658 mi. July 2010. When I brought my Civic in for its routine check up, which I do whenever I'm at 15% oil life, I complained of a roaring noise from my tires. The Honda tech guy said my tires were badly worn and suggested I buy new tires immediately. Kuhmo tires, the brand I bought from Honda, have a 60000 mi. warranty. That same roaring noise is back and I went in for my routine check up and was told that my tires need to be replaced at 61285 mi. December 31, 2011. One tech guy hinted that there have been problems with the rear-upper control arm causing possible problems with certain Civics. If this is the case, I want it corrected, and I want my tires replaced at no cost to me. Honda tells me they don't know what the problem is and will allow me to pay full price for new tires while they try to get me a 50% prorated reimbursement from Kuhmo. I am not satisfied with this at all.

Overall had to replace all four tires for five times and now looking for a new set. All this within 140000 miles. Each set of tire was either from Michelin and Bridgestone with 70000+ miles warranty. Initially I thought that the tire companies have lowered the quality. Little to know that it is actually Honda that is culprit. To the level that it never sent out any mail or notification about open Technical bulletins on bad design.
Never buying another Honda again. I bet that if US gov't did its job properly and opened up investigations on Honda, they will find all sort of issues similar to VW. But only if the gov't would have been doing its job. If the gov't did, then the gov't would have had a common sense law about forcing automaker to contact the vehicle owner about all issues.
