Purchased a 2010 Honda Civic LX color grey. The front fender on the drivers side the paint clear coat is peeling. This is definitely a defect from Honda. This is our 7th Honda we have purchased, including 2 Honda Pilots and 5 Honda civics. We own a 2003 Civic that paint looks better than our 2010. We are really disappointed and will most likely not purchase from Honda again unless they can make things right.

Paint & Clear Coat Peeling

I cannot afford to get my car repainted and fix the coat peeling. my car is 6 years old and that

too early for this to happen in a car. Why is this happening. Did Honda not have good paint and clear

coating to their cars. I can see an older car but this car is 6 years old.

PLEASE HELP!!!!! what is Honda doing to resolve this???? is there any recalls for this?

For the last few years I kept seeing chips of paint peeling off the car, especially around the windshield front and back as well as on the trunk itself. The car looks horrible. I was parked one day in a shopping center and there was an identical Honda Civic parked near me and the paint job was beautiful. As I was getting ready to leave the owner of the other civic looked at my car and asked me what year it was and the color of my paint, I told her a 2010 civic Atomic blue. She asked if I knew that Honda had a recall of civics with that color paint, that she got a new paint job from them for the same problem I had with my car. I called my local Honda dealer where I purchased the car and they said yes it was true, they asked what my vin number was and they checked and said that particular vin number was not on the list. I contacted Honda corporate office and told them the story and they said to bring the car to the dealer and have them take pictures of the damage and they will see what they can do for me. The adjuster just called me to say that after looking at the pictures it would be a total cost of $2075.00 and I would have to pay $800.00 and they would absorb the difference. That is completely ridiculous, I can go to any body shop and pay under $500.00 for a paint job. I am very upset with that offer they gave me when other vin numbers for the same color paint were fixed free of charge. I was getting ready to trade it in for a new civic, I have only about 52000 miles on the car and except for the paint peeling the car is in excellent condition, but now I will never buy a Honda product again. Shame on you Honda!!

The paint on the top of the car and the trunk is fading. It is fading in the shape of spots and then getting larger over time. It started out as the finish looking dull and then turned into gray spots where the paint has peeled and worn away. This is unacceptable. This is the fourth honda that I have bought. It has never happened before. However, considering that honda clearly doesn't want to fix the problem, I won't be buying another honda after this! Not going to take the chance that this problem will happen on another car.

My car looks hideous its very embarrassing driving a nice car with bare paint spots on the hood and trunk. I love my car. I hope to have it a long time, but this ridiculous. I always looked up to Honda because of it's great reputation. Please help me with this problem so that I can restore my belief. I live on a fixed income and have not been able to fix this problem. It's enough to pay for the car plus have to pay for a paint job. I just cant afford it. I went about 4 years without a car before my Honda. I just love it but I could love it better if it were fixed!!!! Please help!!!

I noticed small white lines all over the hood of the car after I finished waxing it. I didn't do anything about it until the paint started to fade on the back part of the roof. And I began to notice other dark blue Civics with the same issues. Then my boyfriend told me I should check if there was a recall. Sure enough (SOB) there is but I'm the second owner so I never received the recall notice. I called the Honda dealer and was told I need to take it to the local auto body shop for an estimate. I was also told to expect a lengthy process before this issue is resolved. I wouldn't expect otherwise. Just fix the paint on my car already.

paint is peeling

I contacted Honda and told them about the peeling that started on the roof and on the trunk, and the fact that there was a 7 year guarantee on the paint, but their answer was: " sorry but our guarantee concerns the hood only, and not the other parts of the car. " This company has really no respect for their clients.

Typically Honda vehicles are the most expensive in their class. It is incomprehensible that this problem even exists. I see so many Hondas with the problem. Mechanically my car, has almost 120000 miles and is excellent and without problem, but I am embarrassed to be driving a car that looks like mine does.

I think that Honda should take responsibility for this problem and at the very least have the car repainted.

Update from Apr 25, 2016: Honda has fixed this problem. There is an extended warranty Campaign Number 14-034

The paint below the front passenger door chipped off in pieces. The section was approx. 4 inches high by 3 feet long. I contacted Honda as it should have been covered under the pain warranty on the vehicle, but was not successful. Winter was coming and therefore got the repairs done at my expense.

My Honda Civic's black paint is peeling off. It occurs at front and back side of the roof for now, but I think it will occur at other parts of the vehicle as well. I contacted MACCO and they gave me a quote of $500 for only a portion of the roof. Please let me know if there is a better way to handle it.

paint is peeling paint is peeling paint is peeling paint is peeling paint is peeling paint is peeling

In September of 2014, we reported to Honda that the paint on our 2010 Honda Civic is peeling in at least 3 different locations on the vehicle (hood, roof, and trunk). The paint is bubbling up in areas, and then the paint cracks and peels off in chunks. It took Honda until March 2015 to finally report back to us that there is nothing they can do to assist us with this problem because the vehicle is out of warranty. I knew this when I called them.

I am of the opinion, as is the local Honda recommended body shop, that this is paint failure cause by a manufacturing defect. This is not normal wear and tear. Honda refuses to provide, in writing, their position. They will only verbally give you the results of their investigation. An investigation that ends with "your vehicle is out of warranty" and therefor we cannot assist you, is a farce. I can read my warranty to know when it expires and do not expect my expired warranty to cover normal wear and tear beyond the warranty time frame. I do, however, expect Honda to stand behind their products and make corrections when there are defects that are not normal wear and tear; not to hide behind an expired warranty.

I have a 2010 Honda Civic. The paint is coming off the vehicle. Honda knows of this problem. They have extended the warranty on other 2010 Civics but claim that mine is not included. I took my car to the local paint shop that does the repairs for Honda. They gave me a written statement that confirms that this is indeed the same problem. They claim that they have done over 100 repairs just like this on Honda's, and this is just a small town in Florida,

The paint peeling on the roof of my car, makes it look like it is a piece of junk. I am making payments on a car that I won't be able to sell or trade in for much because it looks awful. It is a 2010 Civic with very low mileage (19,000) and should I trade in I know the paint peeling will keep me from getting a very good trade in deal at the Honda dealership.

I have been planning to buy a Honda Pilot or Odyssey now that I have grandchildren and the Civic is too small for my transporting grandkids. I will not be looking anymore for a Honda vehicle as I have lost all faith in their product. I also own a 2009 Honda CRV and have had Honda cars for a very long time.

I am searching for a vehicle that has little to no recall problems as Honda seems to have a great many problems recently.
