Driving to NC to help parents out when father diagnosed with cancer. Has horrible scrubbing sound and popping when driving on the interstate. The problem continued to get louder as I drove. Finally arrived in NC and took to mechanic. After inspection of all brakes it was found that the driver side caliper had FROZEN. luckily it did not catch on fire. I had to replace the rotor, caliper and brakes on drive side. OUCH! Due the caliper freezing my 100,000 tires had been ruined! Also had the brakes replaced on front passenger side even tho it was not worn much.

Upon first use of the brakes for the day (or when the brakes/rotors are cool after sitting for a long time), front brakes both make a "popping" sound. This usually occurs in a parking lot or on your street, driving at low speeds, applying the brakes at the first STOP sign you come to. I notice it everyday...one set of 'pops' leaving the house, one set leaving work. I had a 2009 Civic that did the same thing. So, by the time you drive your vehicle over to Honda service, it stops because the brakes have already "popped" into place. On my initial visit, they looked at me like I was nuts because they could not reproduce the sound, along with a littany of other annoyances I will list separately on other individual complaints that I could not reproduce because they are largely intermittent in their occurence. The second visit with service, I was told this is normal for Hondas. Okay...

I'm on the cusp of a paradigm shift with Honda as a brand name.
