The contact leased a 2010 Honda Civic LX. The contact stated that when he depressed the brake pedal, the vehicle surged forward and accelerated. The failure occurred intermittently. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer three times but the dealer was unable to fix the problem. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer a fourth time and the dealer stated that he was depressing the brake pedal and accelerator pedal at the same time which caused the sudden acceleration. The contact believed that the two pedals being so close to one another was a design flaw and safety hazard. The contact called the manufacturer who offered no assistance. The current mileage was 3,843. The failure mileage was approximately 400. Updated 01/04/11 the consumer belived the brake pedal was designed too close to the accelerator pedal. Updated 01/07/11
