Pressing the brake pedal also engages the accelerator pedal causing the vehicle to try to move when only the brake pedal is applied. If you press the left side of the brake pedal it doesn't occur however in heavy traffic you always don't have time to make sure you are only pressing the left side of the brake pedal. It almost caused me to have an accident when I first bought the car. I don't feel safe driving the car.

I purchase the vehicle back Jan of 2011 not even 6 months and 11,000 miles my brake pads were done. I took it to Honda and was told my driving was the issue and not under warranty it was nothing but bull from Honda. I replaced the brake pads and once again not even another 11,000 my brake pads are done again, this time I replace them myself and notice that both inside brake pads are worn out more then the outside. The pads are wearing out uneven that's not normal. Honda should warranty pads and pistons there's something wrong with the braking system.

I have a 2010 Honda Civic LX that I purchased brand new in Aug 2010. There is an issue with the braking system. I was at about 15,000 miles when the brakes started to make a squealing sound. I contacted Honda metro in jersey city, NJ. They stated that it is the manner in which I drive my car. I disputed this with the individual over the phone bc to change the brakes at only 15K miles is completely unheard of. I ended up having my father go to have the issue checked anyway by them. They stated that my brakes were dirty and needed a cleaning. Well soon after that my brakes started doing the same noise again. My guess is that they sprayed it with noise dampening spray. Anyway, I have looked this up online and there are more people out there that are having the same issue. Before someone dies can you please push them to fix this issue. They know about it and they do nothing!!!! thank you so much!

Purchased this Civic in June 2010 and just put the second set of pads on this week. First set at 21,000. 19,000 miles and only 9 months of highway driving between replacement pads. Uneven premature wear on the left inner pad indicating that the pads are remaining in contact with the rotor. Also experiencing a burning smell. Right side pads are almost new. Personal mechanic told me that there was a problem with the caliper and recommended I take it to the dealer the first time. I did and it "was normal wear". hard to believe that so many are experiencing the same problem. This is my 5th Honda and I have never been as disappointed. There is a problem and Honda needs to step up and fix the problem before something serious happens.

Honda Civic LX 2010. Few days ago I took my car to the dealer, and they told me the brake pads need to be replaced. That's very strange considering my car has only 20,100 miles. In addition, I am a person who take extremely good care of my car (oil change, tires, fluids, everything) and moreover if the vehicle is leased. Unfortunately brakes were not covered under warranty, I have to paid for them. I have all the receipts from braman Honda to prove what I'm saying. That's such a disappointment! every 3 months I have to take this car to the dealer with some new problems and pay between $150-350!! this is an obvious factory defect we (the consumers) shouldn't being paying for! do something!!

I heard a squealing metal on metal noise on my Honda Civic, and so took it to the dealer to get it serviced - the mechanic who helped me told me it would probably be under warranty. They discovered the front brakes needed replacing --- at 19,800 miles. Honda refuses to cover them because they are under the "wear and tear" clause of the warranty --- but the brakes failed at 19,800 miles. Unacceptable. When I contacted Honda about the problem, they were cold hearted, the operator was clearly in india and didn't understand the severity of the issue - I will never own a Honda again.

Today, my 2010 Honda Civic needed new front brakes at relatively low mileage - 26000 miles. At first I was shocked. Now, I am deeply disturbed because today, I learned of a class action suit filed in the eastern district of California regarding brake issues in 2008, 2009 and 2010 Honda Civics. Service rep at Honda dealer where I purchased the car indicated that brakes have been a problem on Honda Accord in the past, so much so, that Honda did come out with an improved brake pad for the Accord. I understand that a class action suit had been initiated due to the Accord problem as well. Honda needs to address this problem with respect to the Civic. Honda is faced with a very serious, widespread safety problem on 2010 Civics due to problematic brakes. Let's hope they step up to the plate and do the right thing by their customers. Our safety depends on their integrity.

Honda Civic 2010 was purchased new. At the initial service appointment the vehicle had 9,000 miles. The front brakes were checked at the request of the owner. The rotors were found to be in very poor condition as were the pads. The rotors and pads were replaced. Shortly after the second service appointment, the owner of the vehicle experienced the front brakes grabbing, and heard a loud noise coming from the front of the vehicle. The vehicle had 18,000 miles. This was in December, 2011. The vehicle was returned immediately to the dealer at which time the front pads were found to be in very poor condition, and were replaced.

I have a 2010 Honda Civic that I purchase in Oct of 2009 that is going through brakes prematurely. There must be some sort of defect with the Civic's braking system. On November 30th on 2010, I brought my car into scott robinson Honda in torrance, ca because my breaks were squeaking. I was certain that after only 13 months and 12,457 miles there must be some sort of defect and that my warranty would cover the cost of any repairs. Wrong. I was told by the service rep that I needed to replace my brake pads and that the warranty would not cover the cost because the pads were worn evenly and it appeared to be "normal" wear and tear. I told him that I have had Honda's for the past 20 years and have never had to replace break pads before 25,000-30,000 miles. He simply shook his head and gently insinuated that it may be due to my driving habits or the fact that I live on a hill. I paid them $196.59 to replace the brake pads. On October 31st 2011, I brought my car into scott robinson Honda again for a problem I had been having with the power door locks (luckily, this problem was covered under warranty). When the rep came out to update me on the status, he informed me that I had very little left to my brake pads. I was shocked and of course looked at the man like he had four heads. I told him that it was only a year and less than 11,000 miles (10,993 miles to be exact) since I last had the pads replaced. Once again, I was met with the sympathy of a rep shaking his head and a "sometimes that happens" comment. I have always sworn by Honda vehicles, but if I have to lay out 200 bucks for new brake pads every 11,000 miles, I will not purchase another one in the future. I feel that this problem really needs to be investigated further and that Honda should recall and make the necessary repairs.

The brakes pull and make tremendous noise when stopping short and they pull and make noise when turning at normal speeds. They rumble, screech, and skid. It feels like something is sticking. The car is getting 17 to 20 miles to the gallon on surface streets and freeways without the air-conditioning. An independent mechanic says there is something wrong with the brake system and Honda says all the cars do it, so it isn't a lemon. The Honda Civic I test drove did not do it. Also, there was some bent metal underneath the car toward the center. The car had 11 miles on it when I bought it new and it could have been dropped when unloading it from the trailer. The salesman worked hard to sell me this particular car. It frightens me and it frightens my parents when we drive in it. I do not think it is safe and I feel there is a serious accident waiting to happen when the brakes go out.

I purchased my brand new Honda Civic in 3/2010 (it only had 11 miles). About 7-8 months later, I noticed the Civic was making wierd braking noises. It would come and go. But in 2/2011 (less than a year after my purchase) I was scared to drive my car because it was not braking. I almost rear ended someone and could have caused an accident. I took the car into a Honda dealership to inspect my brakes as it was getting worse and I did not feel safe driving it. I was told I need to replace both front brake pads and my left rotor. The car had less than 9000 miles on it!!! I paid $400 because there was no warranty on the brakes!! I was told it was because of my driving. 7 months later (9/2011) the brake is at it again. This time, there was no sqeaking sounds to warn me, the car suddenly sounded like it was metal rubbing on metal and my car wouldn't brake. Again, I almost got into an accident. This is not right! I've owned several vehicles prior and never had any break issues. Now I'm scared to drive my car. How am I going to get to work? I'm scared to even drive it to the dealership. Plus, they're going to tell me the same thing and charge me another $400 when it's clearly not my doing but a defective problem with the car. Please do something.

Premature wearout of front braking pads and discs on 2010 Honda Civic with 22,000 miles. The car was primarily driven highway miles and is only 12 months old just coming out of it's first winter. The right front had a fully worn out pad and a half worn out pad along with heat distress on the rf rotor indicating caliper sticking and pad not retracting from rotor. Left front pads had significantly uneven wear on the same pad from front to back again indicating something in the braking system is sticking. Took the car to a Honda dealer where they could only repeat the word "brake pads are not covered under warranty". I explained to them that brake pads are not covered under warranty if they are functioning properly and wear out. If they do not function properly and stick, over heat and do not retract in the first year, something is significantly wrong in the design. GM and Ford have been designing very good brake systems that last 40K 50K or more miles. With the 2010 Honda Civic, because of significant uneven pad wear, a "brake job" has to be performed at every third old change. This is a defective design that involves safety and these cars should be recalled and given a fix.

On January 17, I had an oil change and vehicle inspection done. My brakes were at 6mm. On approximately February 15, I noticed a "metal on metal" sound coming from my car. On February 22 I took it in for service and was told my brakes needed to be replaced. It's a 2010 Honda Civic with 21,000 miles. I've owned it for 1 year and 2 months- so the brakes were no longer under warranty. Seems as though Honda Corp needs to start looking into this as this seems like its becoming quite a common occurance and it's excessive and highly unacceptable. I will never buy another Honda- which is sad because Honda is supposed to be the car to buy if you want to avoid repairs and breakdowns!!!!!
