I am a good driver, never had clutch issues. From start as you accelerate and release clutch in first gear hear an annoying squeal (midway clutch release). checked internet and there were multiple complaints and even a Youtube video that is about 37 seconds long documenting the problem. It appears to be common problem with the 2012 SI model year.
Took it to the Honda dealer and was told it needs entire new clutch assembly. $1500 to$1800. Car only has about 50000km on it. Read on internet forum that original clutch parts were defective. Should have a recall. Mechanic at the shop said he had just done this work on another Honda civic SI 2012. I will drive the Civic as long as I can until the squealing gets too unbearable.
