On 3/15/2019 I was driving on a city street when multiple warning lights illuminated (check engine, brake malfunction, ima battery, charging malfunction). The car was towed to the dealership. Once there, they determine that the problem was related to rodents chewing from wires which damaged the fuel line and ima system. After this was repaired, the car still had failure codes due to mechanical issues with the car's system. Troubleshooting led the technician to determine that the motor power inverter needed to be replaced. This required them to also have to replace the junction board. After they were installed, the ima light stayed on, the battery would not charge, and the car continued to recode. They had to put in a test mcm and a second mpi (since the first one malfunctioned as well). This occurred over the course of almost two months. They could not determine a specific cause that led to the system malfunction, so it appeared to be a manufacturing issue. I was charged for the repairs as well as almost two months of rental car fees.

There is a leak from my gas tank. Car is in good condition. Took to get a diagnostic ran and there is no ramage, rust, rodant chewing, or puncture. It is leak from the tank/ where the connector valve is. My car was stationary from Thursday evening until 3 pm on Friday in my parking spot behind the house. Going out ot my car I turned it on, finished putting my things in the trunk. Preceded to get into the car and I smelled gas even stronger. I almost drove off but the smell was overpowering I was afraid. I decided to turn car off and step away 4 feet where I still could smell gas. I saw it leaking. It was taken away by a tow truck.

Fuel line failure above the gas tank. The fuel line has a cut which allowed gas to pour out which could have caused a major problem including fatalities.

I have experienced acceleration problems for over a period of 3 months, similar to those listed by other Honda owners online. Most recent incident occurred on 11/27/2017,10/6/2017,10/9/17 and in other several occasions when operating the vehicle and its inability to perform in a safe matter has greatly troubled me concerning my safety and the safety public. The following occurred on that day, while I was making a left hand turn crossing lanes of traffic and car would not accelerate when the gas pedal was being pushed all the way to the floor, nearly causing an accident. The car also launches forward while in the drive gear or on reverse after it has been parked for several hours. On other occasions, when pulling into or out of the garage/driveway the car clunked and lurched ahead. On other occasions the car has unattended gas control issue, the car also reaches top speeds of over 37 mph without even touching the gas pedal once. This now happens daily, I have taken it to the dealership and they tell me this is a normal function of the car when I know that this is not true. I have owned several cars and I know this is not normal. I no longer feel comfortable driving this car because it is unsafe. I have reached out to the manufacturer and I feel they keep giving me the run ?around. I have also taken the car to the dealership where I purchased it, but they say there is nothing wrong with it. I have also contacted the manufacturer (american Honda) requesting a field engineer have not been able to get any resolution and I?M getting nowhere with them. This car is dangerous to drive I fear for my safety and my families as well as the public safety. I have no other means of transportation and renting a car is not within my budget. I hope that with your help I can get this matter resolved. Thank you, [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

Got a check engine light on and it says something to do with fluke tank.

On approximately 10 occasions, after refueling the Honda Civic gx (natural gas) vehicle, the car would start up and travel no more than 100 yards from the filling station. The gas gauge reads empty even though the tank is full. There are pressure regulators and safety valves that open up with a thunk sound when the car is started after filling. In each case when the car has stalled, the valves/regulators do not open up with the thunk sound. This has been happening for the last 1.5 years with the 2012 Civic gx. There is no pattern to when this occurs or doesn't, but, it usually happens in a cluster of times and then goes away for 5-6 months. Reading online forums, this seems to happen to vehicles that are much older and Honda's only solution is to replace the valves and regulators. As my vehicle is still under warranty, they have been reluctant to do anything. From corporate Honda, they are blaming the drivers for leaving the key in the ignition in the acc position. I know that for 9 out of the 10 incidents, the key was not in the ignition. The stalling of the car has posed a dangerous situation when I was pulling out into traffic only to have the car stall due to lack of gas in the fuel line (safety valve is located in the rear of the vehicle) as it sucks what it can from the fuel line to the valves. It usually takes about 40-45 minutes for the system to reset and allow the car to run. It will run fine until some future refueling. This does not appear to be easily repeatable.

The car loses power when going up hills and has stalled twice. If I lightly bump the shift while driving it goes into neutral. I must use the emergency brake when parked even on a flat surface or the car will roll.

The contact owns a 2012 Honda Civic. The contact stated that there was an extremely strong odor of fuel present and there was fuel leaking. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the technician diagnosed some type of animal had chewed a hole in the fuel lines and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 30,000.

This has happened more than once. When descending a hill after letting up on gas pedal the vehicle will rev up for a few of seconds and hitting the brakes did not disengage throttle, also when passing another vehicle after pulling in and let up on pedal the car still revved up for a couple of seconds. Have not taken to a dealer yet as I am trying to find exactly how and when this problem occurs so I can get the dealer to reproduce this problem (speed, road conditions, and any other conditions that might cause this problem). As we all know they can never get the problems to reproduce.

Turned key to start and nothing happened; some warning lights went off, but no sound from starter, solenoid or other engine parts. Released key and turned key to start again; on second try, engine started properly. Sometimes, I may turn the key twice with nothing happening and engine starts on third try. Happens intermittently; can happen when engine is cold or hot.

The contact owns a 2012 Honda Civic. The contact stated that while driving 50 mph, the contact smelled gasoline fuel as the vehicle stalled. Upon further inspection, the contact discovered that all of the fuels leaked out of the vehicle. The fire department was called to secure the fuel leak and the vehicle was towed to a dealer. The dealer stated that a rodent had chewed through the fuel line and caused the fuel leak. The dealer repaired the fuel line. The failure mileage was 14,000.

The contact owns a 2012 Honda Civic. The contact stated that when the fuel tank was filled to capacity, a strong fuel odor emitted through the cabin and a hissing noise was heard. The contact suffered carbon monoxide symptoms of memory loss fatigue and recurring headaches. The contact recently received notification of a voluntary manufacturer's recall product update to replace the fuel receptacle and fuel pipe. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 1,000 and the current mileage was 21,000.

I am a fuel efficient driver, drive with the econ button on mos of the time. I drive 150 miles 5 times a week. Every time I am going downhill and I push the brakes to slow down, the RPM's go up. I also tried driving without the econ to see if it would change and the same thing happened. You would think by hitting the brakes a little harder would do the trick to decrease speed, but it doesn't. as you start holding the breaks for a long time, then the rps would decrease. I have looked online and many people are saying the same thing. Example: www.civicforums.com/forums/210-engine/350659-2012-Honda-Civic-ex-engine-braking-econ-button.html.

There is no accident, here is problem: I have 6840 miles on a 2012 Honda Civic LX 4dr. When fuel tank filled to all the way, the fuel was slapping about front to back while hit brake or parking. It makes a loud noise and fuel slam into the wall of fuel tank. I went to Honda local dealer and they tell me this is normal, you are not first one to complaint, but there is no service bulletin to it. This is unsafe, 10 gal gas flow in tank will throw off the balance while you make turns, or cause damage sensors in the tank, or cause fuel system leak even fire.

You can hear the fuel moving around the gas tank and banging against the gas tank walls whenever I stop. It is most severe when the tank is full. I complained to the Honda dealer where I purchased the vehicle about the noise. The dealer let me know that the noise I was hearing was the fuel moving around in the fuel tank, due to a design change in the 2012 model which removed the fuel tank baffles. The dealer will not fix this issue on my car. I called and wrote to Honda directly complaining about this issue and requesting resolution and they have not responded.
