About These NHTSA Complaints:
The NHTSA is the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints can be spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem. See the Back button — blue bar at the very top of the page — to explore more.
Car was driven approx 3 miles then was parked for approx. 10 minutes. When returning to the car fire trucks were at the car putting out the fire. The entire engine compartment caught on fire. Car was destroyed. Kearny, NJ police report #[xxx] stated that they (tow truck operator and the police officer) observed a broken fuel line. I found out about the recall for fuel delivery system after the fire. My friend and I went to the dealer, garden state Honda on river road in passaic and saw the manager. He stated that he would not talk to us if either one of us was an attorney. We gave him a binder with a series of 8.5 X 11 photos of the car and copies of the recall found on the internet. A rep called to tell me that the matter was between the insurance company (allstate) and Honda usa. My friend called the manager who when asked about the situation got angry and refused to talk anymore about it. Information redacted pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

Passenger airbag while driving, had an 11yr about 100lbs, if kid slightly moved I would get the airbag warning. Brakes sometimes it feels like I have to completely "floor" the brakes to stop the car, even tho speed its at about 30mph fuel when tank is almost empty, the light, screen and 'ding' would go on non-stop until refueled display the mileage number would start blinking randomly.

When my 2012 Civics fuel tank is filled all the way, the gas seems to flush back and forth while stopping or parking on hills. It makes a loud noise and the gas slams into the walls of the fuel tank. This is unsafe because it throws off the balance of the car by having the gas flow in such an abrupt manner. In no way, shape, or form should a 2012 Civic have this problem. The last thing a new car owner wants is a loud noise from the fuel tank everytime they brake, stop, or park on hills. The dealership said there was nothing they could do about it and that all the other 2012 Civics had the same problem. Honda needs to fix this issue.

The contact owns 2012 Honda Civic. The contact stated that there was a fuel leak and the vehicle pulled toward the right while driving. The dealer attempted on two occasions to repair the alignment failure, but was unsuccessful. The manufacturer informed the contact that there was a recall, but she would have to pay to have the vehicle repaired. The NHTSA campaign id number was 11V288000 (fuel system, other: Delivery: Hoses, lines/piping, and fittings). The contact planned on taking the vehicle in to an authorized dealer and the manufacturer would be notified. The failure mileage was 6,000.
