I've been driving for 35 year and have replaced brakes and rotors numorous times. I've never had to replace brake pads on a 18 month old car. Without warning they wore prematurely down to the metal.
After searching for similar complaints, I found a class action lawsuit from 2010 with the Accord. Honda lost but they haven't fixed the issue with the Civic. There are countless complaints from other Honda owners.
The service department from two dealers refuse to admit to the problem and referred me to corporate.
No more Hondas for me.

You will begin to hear a metal against metal squeaking around 14,000 miles. You'll need new brake pads and will be charged $225 each time you go in. You will complain about how you never have had to change your brake pads that early ever on any other car you've owned and they will rudely blame you for your driving style and charge you $225.
Why it hasn't yet been recalled or fixed is beyond me, this is a serious problem and if you end up buying this car, after 100,000 miles you have spent $1607+ on brake pads alone.
