Upon starting the car in the morning the engine raced around three thousand rpm it also varied in speed. The warning lights on the dash were all on and the window for the back up screen kept changing warning messages. I let the car run while I sat there wondering what was happening. I then shut if off and waited for a minute and restarted it. SAME THING.. I let it run thinking the engine would idle down once it warmed up and after a few minutes the tach came down to around 1500 rpm. Then placed my foot firmly on the brake and put the car in drive. It lurched hard and when I let off the brake the car rolled at five or so miles per hr. The warning lights (yellow) were all still on. I tried to enter traffic and drive the car and when I pressed the gas pedal nothing happened and oncoming traffic laid on their horn's and I was nearly in a accident as the car would not accelerate. Not looking at the dash I pulled immediately into a parking lot across the street and shut the car off. When I regained my composure and stopped shaking I restarted the car again. It ran at a normal speed so I immediately drove back into my driveway and called the dealer's service dept and told them of the problem. I also refused to drive the car there and requested a tow truck to come and get their car.
Later that afternoon I got a call from one of the dealers managers. He went into a long dissertation about how they had reset something on the car and how they had reported the incident to Honda motor company.
And that he could assure me that the car was fixed although he offered no explanation as to why the problem occurred in the first place. I let him know that I did NOT find his explanation acceptable. I have a 2013 Honda civic with issues in the second and third day of use. Severe enough that I had to have the car returned to the dealership on a tow truck. To say I am disappointed hardly covers the language or feelings I am experiencing being a first time Honda owner.
Update from Feb 14, 2013: I returned to the dealer and gave them two options. I asked for a full refund or another car same model and equipment and same year. I told them I would in no way accept the vehicle in question. They agreed to replace the car and I am currently waiting for them to finish adding options and a license plate... Hopefully this car will restore my confidence in Honda Vehicles
