While I was driving down the road on a highway, the transmission just stopped working. No noise, no pop, no stutter. Car acted like it just went into neutral. The car started decelerating and no warning sign or anything (before or after). I was able to pull over on safe spot and had to call tow truck. Dealer confirm that its indeed Transmission and want $5000+ to replace transmission with rebuilt Transmission. That is just Crazy. Honda knew of these problem back in 2015 (as part of recall) and never actually fixed the issue. Just delayed, so they don't have to pay for it. I will think twice before I buy any Honda Vehicle any more.

p0717 p0796 cvt failure, speed sensor melted cannot remove. ??2014 Civic @ 51750 mi.
Per Honda dealer... needs a new transmission. Said the speed sensor is melted and won't come out. Had transmission fluid serviced by a local shop back in October when the car felt like it was dragging... some 400 miles ago.
Honda dealer quoted at around $8k for a remanufactured tranny.
Reached out to Honda Corporate for good will support but they were unwilling to provide any out of warranty good-will support.
Carvana offer before the transmission light came on was 12.5k but now the car is worth less than 4k. We sold it to someone else who is going to fix it and use it. No more Hondas for a long long while.
