I bought this car brand new in Feb 2016. Last year, 2021, I noticed that on really hot days it would struggle to stay cool. It was late in the summer so I didn't bother with it. This year, in preparation for Summer, I took it to Honda.
They inevitably came back and told me what I feared and read online. The condenser and compressor both had to be replaced. They said the condenser was under warranty. This is a clearly known issue with the vehicle year model and Honda should take care of it. This is my second Civic and I never had a problem this big with my old Civic, which is why I got a new one.

Air conditioner was not working well. I brought the car in for the recall. This was in the Spring. When the heatwave came the air conditioning was useless. I called the dealer and brought the car in and they claimed I need a whole new AC system for approx 1800 usd. I pointed out that the air conditioning was working albeit not perfectly when I brought it in for the recall. I have been waiting for a class action lawsuit. The car is only four and a half years old. I do have high mileage but I maintain the car religously. Really did not expect this from Honda. My last honda was twenty two years old and never had a problem.

A car that is claimed to be reliable got AC broken in few year with only 31,000 miles. Also I live in a cold state, so no using the AC throughout the year. Not buying a Honda again. Reliability? My ass.
