Ever since I drove my newly leased Honda 2016 Civic off the lot, the locks and key fobs haven't worked properly. They go on and off as I drive, or I cannot open passenger door, or trunk lock doesn't work, or key fobs cannot activate locking system once you leave car. Honda Canada is aware - I've been to two Honda dealers about 30-40 times over 3 years - They've worked with Honda Canada and re-calibrated things, repaired locks, replaced entire locking system - etc etc and CANNOT permanently fix the problem. It returns within 3-5 weeks after a repair.

Honda Canada offered an extended warranty and told me I will have to go back unlimited times even though Honda is unable to fix the car (3 years plus of attempts!) and they will not replace the car even as they cannot fix it.

I went to open my trunk with FOB and all other doors were still locked and shut. when I shut the trunk, I know I didnt hit any buttons on FOB and I noticed the 4 yellow parking lights were on and stayed on. then I couldn't get anything on FOB to work! I couldn't unlock, lock, open trunk, nothing etc it was just unresponsive. Its obviously a recurring issue with people out there... ive read more posts on google with others same exact experience. This was first time in my 2 years its happened to me but it happened to quite a few 2016 civics. I did unlock door manually with key, but was scared to open for fear of alarm sounding and glad I didnt because that's when I stopped and read others experiences and theirs alarms sounded. It was night time when folks were sleeping.

Others posts suggested waiting 20 to 30 min and lights would go off. I did and they went off. then I tried FOB again and WOW this car is possessed because everything was back to normal. But this is obviously worthy of a recall to fix this if others are having this exact same issue. Thankfullly I was already at home had I been out on the road I would have been more pissed especially if it made me late to something. But this happened in Memphis TN. I hope others out there get theirs fixed too.

Just wait the 20 to 30 min for it to go back to normal before you flip out like I did.

I had my key FOB with me when I opened the trunk of my car by pressing the latch on the trunk so it unlocked. I put my purse into the trunk and closed the trunk. I then proceeded to unlock the driver's side but it would not open. Some of my yellow lights were on as well. I tried opening the door by pressing the key Fob button but it did not work. I went from door to door and they were locked. Finally I slid the back of the FOB and used the key to open the door. It unlocked the door but then the alarm went off and the yellow lights were flashing. I had to push START to get the alarm and lights to go off. As I was driving I also realized that this glitch reset my car settings---the lane assistance, etc. I had to turn them on again. Now things seem OK....
