Oil dilution. The oil dilution situation is a real pain on the 1.5 turbo. Honda needs to FIX this! Been driving Honda's since 2007 and have four in the family right now. Starting to rethink my loyalty. The 1.5 turbo has an oil dilution issue where gas gets in with the oil and builds up in the crankcase. Thinking about dumping this car cheap in the spring. If I do, I WILL NOT be coming back to Honda. Need to step up and fix this issue.

Update from Dec 6, 2018: Car did stall on the interstate with cars and semi's whipping by at 75 mph plus. Not a good situation.

Update from May 30, 2019: Had "the fix" of software and a AC component done by Honda in December. The motor still has oil dilution issues and I do not think the fix helped much, if at all. I was told by Honda corporate since the car had a rebuilt "R" title they would not help. The wreck was a deer impact in the front and no air bags were deployed. I have owned a pile of Civics: 2007, 2008, 2009, 2011, 2015 and now the 2016. All the other Civics were super and two of them had rebuilt "R" titles.

Update from Dec 21, 2019: I had the software patch and AC controller replaced a long time ago and it did NOTHING at all to help with the oil dilution. I went out and bought really nice tires and this was Honda and they "have a fix". Well the fix did not fix anything at all. Ended up deep discounting the car, gave full disclosure and sold off real cheap. Lost $1000's. At least I was honest with the buyer, more than I can say for Honda.

Update from Mar 5, 2024: I got the oil dilution issue on the Honda 1.5 turbo fixed! Sold the car off (with full disclosure to the buyer). Lost thousands on the car, but don't have oil dilution any more. I owned a 2007, 2008, 2009, 2011, 2015 and then 2016 Civic. Put several 100,000 miles on Civic and was a Honda fan for life until the 2016 Civic EX-L 1.5 turbo oil diluter. Contacted Honda several times and was ignored. Now drive Toyota and will NOT ever go back to Honda. Honda made it very clear they did not like or want me as a customer.

I do my own oil changes. I put the required number of quart of 0-20 in at the last oil change and when I drained it, guess what? An additional quart of volume in the drain pan. No one else touched the vehicle and all other variables were controlled-- same garage, procedures. Oil smelled of gasoline.

Update from Oct 19, 2018: By the way, I do love this car. Just concerned.

Checking the oil I am knocked over by the gas fumes. I read about this problem and had checked my car for it and it has the same issue. I was told just to change my oil more often than recommended....that is not a FIX. This is a turbo engine and was an expensive purchase. If my engine dies because of this Honda should be giving me a brand new car.
