I just bought my Civic back in Feb. 2016 I have not had the car a month when the Engine light came on. I contacted the dealership and scheduled an appointment. I was not told of any recall but, I found out on this website that there is a recall and confirmed by calling Honda that my car is affected. I am concerned about the safety of the vehicle and very disappointed that I was sold a car that had a major recall on the engine. I have lost faith in the Honda brand and most likely will never by another one.

I purchased this car 1.5 months ago. I was alerted to a piston clip ring problem through a forum. I looked into it further by calling Honda Customer Service and it was confirmed that this was a problem, specifically for my VIN number as well. Although no failure has occurred yet, the potential damage is engine failure if the ring is "missing" or "improperly installed" (Honda does not have a solution or the parts to repair atm). Honda has issued a stop sale. For those of us who have purchased the car, the parts/fixes are not projected to be available until mid March. Basically, I have to drive a ticking time bomb that could have catastrophic engine failure at any time.

A formal recall from Honda is supposed to be issued in the coming days once they get their act together. All I can say is that I'm thoroughly disappointed in Honda engineering and assembly at the moment. My brand new car is possibly going to have internal engine work done to it sub 2,000 miles, because of the irresponsibility of this car company that used to have a stellar quality and reliability records.

2016 Honda Civic Recall "piston pin snap rings" after a month selling the car. I feel like a Guinea Pig testing the new model year and I paying to HONDA for this. Ridiculous!
