My A/C has gone out for the second time in 5 years. I have a 2017 Honda Civic touring. Last year the condenser in my a/c unit went out. Thanks to a previous lawsuit with Honda over the faulty a/c units there is a 10 year warranty on that part. This year the a/c went out again. I took it to the dealership and was charged $175.00 diagnostic fee. Within an hour I received a text asking if I would approve a repair for the evaporator core for $2,600.00. I said no and went to pick up my car. I researched on google and found this is very common in these cars (2016-2018 Honda civics) due to the new refrigerant that was used in these vehicles beginning in 2016.

I contacted corporate to complain and the individual that answered the phone pretty much said there’s nothing that can be done because I don’t have an extended warranty. It wasn’t until I said I’m going to contact an attorney that she was willing to open a case for me. So now 3 weeks later the outcome of the case is that Honda wants me to pay $900.00 and they will cover the rest. I declined because including the diagnostic fee that’s still almost $1.100.00 that I shouldn’t have to pay for. If this was normal wear and tear I can see paying for it. But this is on Honda.

I'm pretty dissatisfied with the outcome of this. I take care of an 88 year old woman with chronic heart disease. I live in Southern California. My vehicle is black on black. How am I going to take her to the Dr. Or whatever else needs to be done this summer. I'm going to be stressing over her having a heart attack.

Not only that but driving with the windows down leaves the door open for car jacking, or other types of crime. I am beyond disappointed with Honda. I love my little civic. The car is not even paid off yet . I shouldn’t be having these issues. Who else is having these problems. I want to see if I can get a class action going. Anyone in with me?
