About These NHTSA Complaints:
The NHTSA is the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints can be spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem. See the Back button — blue bar at the very top of the page — to explore more.
This is a known issue with Hondas from 2016 and up where the Body Control Module (BCM) is faulty and malfunctioning. When the car turns off, it turns itself back on and makes noises to turn itself back on. This issue may cause possible electrical issues that may short and start a fire internally. Honda dealerships across the country have known about this issue for many years, yet they have not fixed the problem. There are youtube videos entailing the same occurrences in a lot of other people's cars, including myself. My vehicle has not been inspected but spoke with several Honda dealerships about the issue, and they are all aware of the issue, yet have no solution but to replace it. The BCM is on backorder for months and people are without cars to use due to the repeated occurrences for everybody. There are no signs of any issues before the faulty BCM malfunctions. Dealerships charge $1500-2500 for car repairs that they are not able to fix due to the backorder of the component. If this issue has been going on for several years, why hasn't Honda fixed and replace the issue, instead of knowing the issue and making their customers pay a large amount of money to fix what they know will go wrong" It is unethical and demoralizing to have a company take advantage of its customers.
