Dear Honda Customer Support Team, I want to address an urgent safety concern with my 2023 Honda Civic, which has been affected by the recent recall (NHTSA Recall Number: 24V-744, MFR Campaign ID: SJS) issued on October 3, 2024, for 2022-2025 This recall addresses a defect in the steering gearbox worm wheel, which can swell during use, resulting in a reduced grease film thickness between the worm wheel and worm gear. Additionally, the worm gear spring preload was set too high, increasing friction and causing the steering to become resistant. This defect can create dangerous driving conditions, significantly raising the risk of a crash or injury. On multiple occasions, I have experienced instances where the steering has become unresponsive, effectively -??locking up-?? while driving. These occurrences have been extremely distressing, impacting my confidence in the vehicle's safety and contributing to substantial mental distress. Additionally, I have noticed recurring issues with the Electronic Power Steering (EPS) system, such as electrical malfunctions that cause the car to stall unexpectedly, activate the automatic stop feature, and produce erratic sensor behavior. I have reported these concerns to my dedicated dealership, but unfortunately, the issues remain unresolved. On November 2, 2024, I brought my vehicle to White Plains Honda at 61 Bank Street, White Plains, New York 10606, after scheduling my appointment two weeks in advance. However, I was informed that the replacement part required to resolve the steering gearbox defect is on backorder with no confirmed availability date. Considering the safety risks associated with driving my vehicle in its current state, I am deeply concerned about the indefinite delay in repairs. Given the critical nature of these safety concerns, I am formally requesting an immediate replacement vehicle to ensure my safety and that of my passengers.

The steering wheel is very very hard to turn some times when making minors adjustments on the highway to keep in the centre of the lane; only happen on high speed, sometimes 50km/h-80km/h the issue occurs too. However, after a while, it-??s even more noticeable and it happens more frequently and at low speed too. Right now, it happens very frequently around 50km/h-130km/h. I am very concerned regarding this, and I been to the dealership two times but they could not find out the issue. The third time I went to the dealership they finally figured it out and ordered parts in for me; nevertheless, it-??s been one/two months but it-??s still not here yet. But the issue is getting worse.

Rodents have chewed through the wiring on my vehicle twice within 7 days. Dealer fix of "rodent-deterrent" tape did not work. All systems are compromised by this occurrence -- emissions, braking, acceleration, lane-keep asist, etc. Using soy-based wiring on vital components is not safe for the consumer.

My 2023 civic steering wheel seems to stick when I'm driving. If the wheel is kept straight for a second it "sticks" and requires a good bit of force to become "unstuck". When driving at highway speeds getting it unstuck usually causes it to jerk and in turn overcorrect constantly. There are no warning lights and I currently have an appointment to take it to the dealer for inspection.

The contact owns a 2023 Honda Civic. The contact stated that shortly after the vehicle was purchased brand new, the vehicle would start independently and the doors would unlock independently. Additionally, the contact stated while at a complete stop at the traffic light, the auto Stop-Start feature was engaged. The contact stated that the vehicle accelerated independently, causing another vehicle to crash into the rear driver's side door of the vehicle. There was no warning light illuminated. On the driver's side, the roof-rail air bags deployed. The contact stated that he was able to exit the vehicle. The contact was able to drive the vehicle. A police report was filed. The contact stated that the collision might have increased the intensity of the injuries he had sustained from a previous accident. The contact did not seek medical assistance. The dealer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that they could not determine whether the failures occurred due to the vehicle's computer system being hacked. The vehicle was not diagnosed and repaired. Additionally, the contact stated that the steering wheel was pulling to the left and the right while driving. The contact stated that while driving 20-25 MPH, the vehicle made an abnormal grinding sound. The contact stated that while pulling into the nearest parking lot, the vehicle made an abnormally loud popping sound. The contact stated that he engaged the electric parking brake and parked the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the ball joint was fractured and needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 200.

When I was driving my new 2023 Honda Civic Touring-??s the engine started running rough and the check light indicators came on with the following items to -??See your dealer-?? despite this car being less than 3 months old and with just over 1,000 miles on the odometer: - Brake System Problem-?? - Electric Power Steering System Problem-?? - Electric Parking Brake System Problem-?? - Tire Pressure Monitor System Problem-?? - Emission System Problem-?? Some of these above items negatively affect the safe operation of the vehicle and increase risk to the occupant(s). After coordinating with the Honda dealership where we purchased this Civic and the Honda Roadside Assistance, they towed our disabled Civic to the closest Honda dealership. A Honda Service Advisor informed us our Civic had a major engine issue (cracked engine block) which was a manufacturer's defect. After 36 days they completed the major warranty repairs totaling over $6,000 (primarily replaced the engine short block which eliminated the above listed issues). It should be noted, the two local Honda dealerships and Honda Roadside Assistance (1-800-864-5211) were very professional and helpful. However, to our surprise the American Honda Motor Co, Inc; Honda Automotive Customer Service, [XXX] ) has been unresponsive. About 30 minutes into a drive the steering wheel or electronic steering will begin to malfunction. When driving at high speeds, you are unable to make small minor corrections to stay center in your lane due to the steering wheel feeling like it-??s sticking in one direction. It takes a considerable amount of force in order to make the correction resulting in an over correction. When traveling at high speed this can put the driver and passangers at risk because an over correction can cause the car to lose traction with the road. I-??ve taken the car into Honda and it is currently being inspected. They told me yesterday that they were -??having trouble replicating the problem-?? which doesn-??t mean the problem isn-??t there. As far as I know and seen there have no being any light indicators on.

I first received the brand new car with 25 miles on May 5th, 2023. I had it for about an hour and it completely shut down on me in the middle of the road so I took it back that same day and it took them over 2 weeks to give it back to me, I finally received yesterday once again and this morning it broke down on me once again in the middle of traffic and it was due to the same issue that was -??supposedly fixed.-?? I have a 3 year old with me most of the times and if that were to happen in the interstate and the car completely breaks down like it always is, not only would it most likely cost my life but it would cause my 3 year old sisters as well. This car is not reliable at all and I would honestly prefer a different one.

The week of February 26, 2023 I was sitting at the traffic light and when I went to press the gas the car wouldn't move and it shut off. So it appears that the auto start stop did not re-engage. I had to put on my blinkers so that traffic could go around me. I pressed some buttons and it finally started up after a minute or so. Pretty alarming considering that I only had the car for 2 months and it's a brand new 2023. Also, on 3/6 I went to start my car and it wouldn't start. It asked me to place my key fob on the start stop button. Then the car started. I took it to the dealer and they can't find anything wrong and that's even more scarier. Also, the car seems to gas up when it's in park and I have my foot on the brake but no one can explain what's going on with my brand new car.
